What is the largest of three consecutive positive integers if the product of the smaller two integers is seven less than three times the largest integer?
Why is this NOT the equation?
x*(x+1) = 3*(x+2) -7
I swear no matter how many times I read this problem I still come up with this equation but this equation doesn't allow me to solve for x. GRRR
What am I doing wrong?

You're good; just keep solving that equation.
X^2 + x = 3x + 6 - 7
X^2 -2x +1 = 0
(x-1)(x-1) = 0
X=1
Then check it in the original equation, and make sure you are answering the question.

I'm a history major too, but I kinda like logic & math problems. Got my highest test score on College Math CLEP...that always seemed interesting to me.
