So Excited On A Monday - Owen - 02-03-2014
So I graduate from COSC this May with my bachelors, and I decided why not start looking for a grad program to apply to. I came across University of Wisconsin Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. The different specializations were a fit for me and the location was convenient, so I applied early January. GUESS WHAT!!!! I just got accepted to start this summer with a hold on my account for the fall, pending my final transcript from COSC. If I hadn't ran into this site, I don't think this would have been possible. I never thought that one day I would be talking about grad school. This one is for all the wonderful advise from the users on this site, their encouragement, and the great direction. Now all I have to do is finish out my last classes at COSC. I thought I should share this with the group that made this possible and to encourage others to keep pushing forward. :hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray:

Getting into a graduate program in engineering is impressive, I'm curious what's your undergraduate major?

I think at COSC all the majors are General Studies or Healthcare Majors.

I'm sure he's referring to the concentration.
Even though COSC's degrees are pretty much all General Studies, pretty much everybody in this forum generally uses the terms "concentration" and "major" interchangeably when discussing COSC (unless discussing it with someone new, in which case the difference is usually explained so that the individual can get a firm grasp on the concept).

Prior to starting at COSC, I had already completed about 3.5 yrs in an electrical engineering program before abandoning it. When I started with COSC, I did an individualized study concentration that built around my previous courses. I know a lot of engineering graduate schools wants you to have an engineering undergrad, but I sent in all of my transcript for them to consider me. At least one of my transcript said electrical engineering, and in my statement of purpose I tried to explain why I never completed the EE major rather than Individualized studies.
