My college accepts the clep english exam "College Composition Modular with Optional Essay"......I just want to know if I have to do a essay or not since it says optional?.....and also Do you believe If I just use instantcert.com to study for this exam would I pass or not?..if not, what free websites should I go to study and pass this exam?.....p.s I already know about educationportal.com

Your best bet is asking your college if they require the essay portion of the exam, most do.

I would not say that "most" colleges require the optional essay. Those that require the essay typically require the College Composition exam. Now if your college truly does require the optional essays, the next question to get answered would be whether they want to supply the essay prompts or do they want you to use the ones supplied by CLEP. Either way, those essays will not be reflected in the score you receive from CLEP for this exam.

I'd say go to Quizlet.com and find free flashcards, do several free practice test, practice writing some of the essays you can find for SAT prep (300 words in 30 min) and if you score a decent score between 41% + you should be okay.

Since I only needed 3 hours, I only had to take the exam. However, my husband needed 6 so he wrote the essays. We both used instacert, practice tests from the DoD site and past knowledge. We passed without a problem.
