SL Bio or Clep Bio - dmar001 - 01-02-2014 I have to take a biology class which would be easier taking it through SL or CLEP? SL Bio or Clep Bio - ironheadjack - 01-02-2014 Any bio-course or intro to biology? The reasons I ask is because TESC accepts SL intro to nutrition as BIO-208, and it fulfilled my science requirement. The course was pretty easy and a lot of common sense stuff. If you need a regular "BIO-101" type course it comes down to personal preference. CLEP is one big test that you need to study for to prepare; SL is a series of open-book tests that can be completed as fast as you work. SL Bio or Clep Bio - dmar001 - 01-02-2014 The SL BIO if not I'm not mistaken has the final as closed book. I need a class that is listed as biology in the transcript. I'm considering transferring over to WGU BSIT program since I should be able to finish the program sooner and skip over all of the math classes since my associates should waive those classes. For the science class I need to transfer in Biology, Anatomy, physiology, or zoology to meet that requirement. I figure biology should be the "easiest" in theory. SL Bio or Clep Bio - freddy - 01-06-2014 I don't know how hard SL is, but I did take the Biology Clep. You do have to study for the Biology Clep, there is a lot of information to learn, and it isn't a cakewalk, but I don't think it's as hard as everyone makes it out to be. I used the REA study guide and the Khan academy BIology videos downloaded to my iphone to pass. SL Bio or Clep Bio - doristhefrenchman - 01-07-2014 I took SL Intro to Bio in November, and passed with a B. It was a very easy class IF you have the assigned text. I didn't read any of the slide presentations or chapters, instead I just referred to the book during the quizzes. When I took it the final was open book but has since been changed to closed book. I would have really struggled on the final without the book. As more classes are switching to closed book, I think a smart strategy (for myself included) would be to try to score as high as possible on the open book quizzes, thus creating a little bit of leeway on any closed book finals. Hope that helps! SL Bio or Clep Bio - dmar001 - 01-09-2014 Yea I took the dive with a coupon code to try out SL BIO. Figured if I bomb it for $30 I'll try the Clep exam. First quiz was fairly simple based on chapter 1 which is only 14 pages. As long as the rest of the quizzes coincide with the information in the chapters I should pass easily. Thanks for your response. Did you take the Bio lab at SL? SL Bio or Clep Bio - doristhefrenchman - 01-09-2014 No, I didn't need the lab, so I just took the basic one. So far I've done 4 of 7 total courses with SL. I'll be finishing up another one this weekend. As long as I've had the assigned text I've done pretty well on the quizzes and finals. Good luck to you! SL Bio or Clep Bio - Gooberman11 - 01-09-2014 Just a side note, I took anatomy 1 and 2 with SL awhile back and REALLY enjoyed the courses. So if you need a science and don't love Bio then I would say give Anatomy a shot. Plus you can take 1 and 2 and get 6 credits. |
