Transferring to TESC. Could use some help. Thanks everyone. - poolboy706 - 12-30-2013

Hello,

I'm am glad I found this site. I am not new to forums though. I could use the expertise of some of the members here as you all are more knowledgeable/experienced than myself. After doing research, I decided that I will be transferring to TESC and using CLEP, DSST, SL, etc. to obtain by BSBA in General Management. According to my unofficial transcript and my point of contact at TESC, I will be transferring in 75 credits and have 45 to go. I am attaching the Eval because I am having a heck of a time trying to decipher it. I have included a spread sheet of the credits that I know I need and the best way to get them. Based off of what I have researched here and the wiki degree pages. The below table only accounts for 33 credit hours. What should I do (or go) to get the remaining credits?

Is it feasible to obtain this by June 1st, 2014? At least all 120 credits and be in a position to apply for a degree?

If anyone would like to help me out, I would really appreciate it. I am a veteran so I also have Military Certificates and Schools. I have my EMT-Intermediate, and various Firefighter Certificates. I can provide more information (and a better spread sheet) upon request.

Please help if you can, and thanks again everyone.

Have you looked at my test out plan for the BSBA?
Sanantone's BSBA General Management - Degree Forum Wiki

Human Cultures and the Physical Natural World and general education electives are easy to fill. Just choose any of the CLEPs or DSSTs listed under humanities, natural sciences, or social sciences. Even though they are listed under human service, criminal justice, law enforcement (but you can't use LE and CJ in the degree plan), and fundamentals of counseling are counted as social sciences.

You can also use Straighterline courses, Uexcels, and TECEPs that fall under those categories.

Did you get an official evaluation from TESC? That would be better for us to go off of?

I have looked at your plan on the Wiki pages... Heck, it is my inspiration!!

So as long as I take any of the CLEP tests that are assigned to humanities, natural sciences, or social sciences, they will fulfill any credit requirements.

I'm still a little lost as far as what I actually have to take because the individual at TESC told me I have 45 credits left but I can't figure out which 45 based off if what she said.

You recommended getting an official eval. To be sure, that means paying the $75 now, so I can find out specifically what courses I need (get it in writing from the school). Take the tests I need and then enroll.

UPDATE/EDIT: I sent an email to admissions and filled out an application. I won't hear anything until Friday/Monday due to the holiday.

It's going to take about 6-8 weeks to get an evaluation depending on how busy they are. You can't go off of what someone tells you on the phone. Their phone people are often wrong. Since you do not have an official evaluation, it would be more helpful for us to see the individual courses you do have and how many credits they're worth.

Quote:I finally got my Eval from TESC! It had been over 6 weeks since I initially applied and over 5 weeks since they received CC transcripts. I had emailed them a couple weeks ago inquiring about the status and was told it takes 20-25 business days. Yesterday I sent them another email telling them it had now been over 25 business days since they received my transcripts and low and behold now today I see my eval has been updated. My recommendation is figure out 25 business days from when they show they received all of your transcripts and then pester them once that date passes. They took care of it and resolved the ticket.

Regarding the time for the evaluation... I posted the above comment in a separate thread last June. You can see that my experience was that it took 25 business days from the point at which they had all my transcripts, and also a little pestering them.
