A few weeks back, I called to ask about the Per Credit Tuition Plan and if it can be used for the undergraduate certificates. The phone person (admissions representative) said that one could choose the Per Credit Tuition Plan to complete the undergraduate certificates. Then, I asked about the residency requirements because I know TESC is not about to let someone complete a certificate for almost nothing. He said that transfer credits were not allowed for the certificate programs. Obviously, that didn't sound right. Also, he sounded like the guy who told me there weren't enough TECEPs to fulfill the 24 credit residency requirement under the Per Credit Tuition Plan. There are currently 29 TECEPs not counting the Human Services one that's about to be discontinued!
So, I do what I always do - I verify through email. I was told that the Per Credit Tuition Plan can only be used for associate's and bachelor's programs. The Enrolled Options Plan is best for the undergraduate certificates since they are only 18 credits. I was also told that, like with anything else under the Enrolled Options Plan, one does not have to take any TESC courses. One can transfer in all of the required courses for a certificate.

Nothing can be as worse as EC, who gives you nothing but the run around, while taking almost 2 weeks just to respond to an email. And their poorly designed website only makes things worse.

When TESC announced that they would start offering their TECEP exams online, I emailed TESC asking them if the cost of the TECEP exams would remain the same or if their would be an additional charge for proctoring the exams through ProctorU. I never heard back from them.

What was always annoying for me since I heard about EC a few years ago is that you have to find their catalog to see what a degree program requires. Those charts they link to on the programs' pages are almost useless.

The ticket probably got lost somewhere or closed out accidentally. With all of the Big 3, I think they are sometimes unprepared with some of the complex questions the members of this forum ask. Only we would think of so many ways to try to get around taking courses.

I've got to agree. TESC is not the best, and they take FOREVER to give you the official low down on transfer credits (Academic Eval), but even at their worst, they are not as frustrating to deal with as EC. Maybe EC has changed? But by this post looks like they are still working in 1984 mode. Hopefully the next time someone calls they can ask, "Hey what button do I push to get me "Back to the Future"?

So what is the conclusion? Can you complete your undergraduate degree under the Per Credit tution plan via TECEPs?
It sounds way too confusing.. the person on the phone says no and the person on the mail says yes. Are they trained differently?

You can definitely complete your undergraduate degree using the Per Credit tuition plan by using TECEPs to meet their residency requirements. However, you can't use the Per Credit tuition plan to do the certificate things they offer.
