banghead I didn't expect the exam to be that hard. CLEP and DSST spoiled me. Does anyone know if TESC allows any extra-credit work to be done?

Each instructor would make that decision. You could email your mentor and ask if they'd all it, or maybe a re-take, or maybe the rest of your good grades will pull you through. I almost always get low "B" and "C" on tests I DO study for (I'm a terrible test taker) so to compensate for that, I always work very hard to earn 100% on everything else. That works most of the time. Good luck!

Exactly this. Let's say I did less than stellar on more than a few midterms and final exams. Run the numbers and you'll see you can drag a reasonably abysmal exam grade up to still earn an A if you work hard on all the other assignments. Just know that you've got no room for slacking between now and the end of the course. You can still make some lemonade.

I despise the midterm/final exams at tesc. with a passion.
The ones i have to take this term are weighted even more than last term, so I'm super nervous.

I would have to agree, I didn't pass a single CALC I or II midterm or final and was still able to pull off a B+ in each class. Math may be a little different though, the professor was lenient because he realized that you couldn't get partial credit for work on these exams...

LOL or that. That's probably not the answer. Like all of us are saying, run the numbers. Here's an easy example of how to calculate:
Forum posts/discussion 25%
Homework/written 25%
Project 10%
Mid-term 20%
Final 20%
Take your score percent (only the number) times the weight percent (only the number) to get total "points" for that category
Forum posts/discussion 25% (25) times your grade 100% (100) = 2500 (out of 2500)
Homework/written 25% (25) times your grade of 95% (95) = 2500 (out of 2500)
Project 10% (10) times your grade of 100% (100) = 1000 (out of 1000)
Mid-term exam 20% (20) times your grade of 65% (60) = 1300 (out of 2000)
Final exam 20% (20) times your grade of 65% (65) = 1300 (out of 2000)
Total points possible: 10,000
Your points earned: 86,000
This scenario earns the student a final course grade of "B+"
(A= 90, B= 80, C=70, D= 60 etc.)
For what it's worth, keep everything the same, and change the final exam score to an 80%
The student earns an 89,000...... also a B+
As you can see, the effort is misplaced - same grade.
I'm not saying this is your situation, but as you can see, you need to calculate your own course syllabus scores and weights to see where you are today, and that will tell you where to put your efforts for the remainder of the class. It MAY be in the final exam, or it may be somewhere else. Just trying to help. Good luck.

Sadly, the mid-term is 25% of the grade.
The final will be another 25%
And the written assignments are 50%
I was nervous because if I get anything lower than a 60 on my final, I'm looking at a C or less. That's assuming I continue to earn 90%+ on my remaining assignments.

Their midterms are ridiculous. I was getting all 100s and bombed both the midterm and the final. After the horrendous midterm I talked to the mentor and was able to work it out but I could have effectively failed the course (because its area of study) simply due to the midterm and final because they used a handful of questions which made them each far too weighted.
You need to talk to your mentor and be as honest as possible. If you're doing the work (and they're not a total ***) they should be able to help you.
