Really need help with the GE Quantitative Reasoning course! - nick32 - 10-13-2013 Hello members I am running into a big problem and would love your help advice I am 32 years old and haven't been to college for almost 10 years now. For personal reasons at the time I didn't applied for graduation just for 3 units (it's a long story why) so even though I have a great GPA 3.55 I don't have my degree. The units missing are for the GE Quantitative Reasoning requirement at San Fransisco State I found two classes (college algebra) that were fulfilling the requirement but unfortunately I failed MATH 110: College Algebra (Online) - BYU Independent Study - Online Courses Do you happen to have any suggestions? Is there something easier online that I could register to get me out of this problem? I was never good at math and it just doesn't seem I can put it through. Any suggestions/advise for an easier online class I could take (I am really looking to do this quick) will really really help Thank you! Nick Really need help with the GE Quantitative Reasoning course! - UptonSinclair - 10-13-2013 You may have a look at Skills, careers, and programs >> KCTCS Online they have a self-paced college algebra. I have only taken a computer class through them, so I can't vouch for the quality of the course. You may also consider working through Aleks to ensure you are comfortable with the material and then take the College Algebra CLEP. According to their website, San Francisco State accepts the Algebra CLEP for the qualitative reasoning requirement. Also the course you mentioned is the same price as the algebra course I already tried to finidh at BYU, it doesnt really give a lot information and there is a placement exam as well... thank you again Really need help with the GE Quantitative Reasoning course! - UptonSinclair - 10-13-2013 If you intend to get your degree from San Francisco State, you may want to speak with an advisor to make sure they accept anything below College Algebra. Most of the people on here are attending Charter Oak, Thomas Edison, or Excelsior where the math requirements are very liberal in comparison to many Universities. If on the other hand, you intend to transfer your credits to one of the "Big 3" I have just mentioned, there are many alternatives -Aleks being the most popular. Really need help with the GE Quantitative Reasoning course! - sanantone - 10-13-2013 I agree. You have to ask your school what's acceptable. It might be that your school will accept something like math for liberal arts majors or statistics. Some people have an easier time with statistics than math. Really need help with the GE Quantitative Reasoning course! - nick32 - 10-14-2013 Of course I am in talks with the advising department. I wouldn't just take a class and not be sure if it will count towards the requirement or not. The school asked me to send them any class I think they might fulfill the requirement and I am interested in and they will tell me if it's ok to take or not. And that's the reason I thought to ask the question here. Since the Quantitative reasoning GE requirement is same among all state schools in California, thought someone else might had the same issue... thank you again Really need help with the GE Quantitative Reasoning course! - sanantone - 10-14-2013 They should be able to give you a list of what's generally accepted. They should at least be able to tell you if they will accept statistics or something lower than college algebra. Really need help with the GE Quantitative Reasoning course! - nick32 - 10-14-2013 They do accept statistics. But they won't recommend where to take the classes from of course..and that's why I asked here to see if anyone has experience and has taken any alternative classes that are fairly easy. thank you Really need help with the GE Quantitative Reasoning course! - sanantone - 10-14-2013 It would help us help you find courses if you list what they accept. How were we supposed to recommend statistic courses if we didn't even know they accept statistics for the quantitative reasoning requirement?
