What are my General Edu. Elective options? - Firedup4Jesus - 09-25-2013 I am finishing up my AA in the Arts from TESC. I have 6 credits that I need to finish in the General Education Electives category. What kinds of tests should these be? I thought I might be able to take some simple business CLEP's, but someone informed me that that isn't accepted. So are there any easy tests or courses that will fulfill these last 6 credits? I am not crazy about the Lit. CLEP because there are no IC flashcards for it. What about straighterline courses? Thanks for your answers! What are my General Edu. Elective options? - corpsole2 - 09-25-2013 Straighterline's great for filling in the gaps for your degree. I don't know if the new degree plans would accept SL courses as easily as they did a few months ago ( I had to pre-capstone degree plan), but they did accept Business Communications and Organizational Behavior as a General Ed elective in my degree plan. The advisor told me that Organizational Behavior is considered a social science, and Business Communications is categorized under Humanities (go figure). What are my General Edu. Elective options? - EI2HCB - 09-25-2013 Have you got an advisor? Ask them if Western Civ 1&2 would work for you? You could also clarify if A&I lit is a humanities or English course at your school as the Humanities CLEP is six credits in that section. For social science you might be able to use sociology or Intro to psychology. If not you'll need to research Arts based courses elsewhere or take the six credits at TESC. I believe there is an Art of the Western World DSST although : edit: Art of the Western World. 3-L. Deals with the history of art during various periods, including: Romanesque and Gothic; Renaissance; Baroque; rococo; neoclassicism and romanticism; realism, impressionism and post-impressionism; and post-World War II. from http://getcollegecredit.com/assets/pdf/DSST_Exam_List.pdf Again its a social science course but they may take it since it deals with Art What are my General Edu. Free Clep Prep.com has a practice test you could try for the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP if you wanted to see whether it would be doable for you. It would probably be your fastest and cheapest option, and as many others have said, it is essentially a reading comprehension test, which is probably why IC has no flashcards for it. This Literature*|*Glossary of Poetic Terms was very helpful, and if you are having any trouble or want to see if you're ready, Free Clep Prep.com has a study guide with a few more links if you wanted to give it a shot. I think the Lit CLEPs they were referring to are American and English Lit. Those actually aren't that bad with the resources here, even though there's no flash cards. I was able to pass both of them using resources here and acquiring the For Idiots books (though I didn't think they helped me that much for content as much as the resources here). I took them about 3 years ago, so YMMV. Edit: Looks like I got a 71 on English Lit and a 68 on Am. Lit using the posts and resources here at the time. -T What are my General Edu.
