Excelsior Liberal Arts bachelors degree requirements - jhobb018 - 09-20-2013
I'm sure this information can be found in the forums but I would appreciate someone filling me in if they know. I've applied to Excelsior College, and have not yet been evaluated. I happen to be a veteran. I held two MOS's 68W and 27D. I also have an associates degree, and I've taken many CLEP/DSST exams. I'm currently enrolled at both UMUC and Excelsior. My intent is to go to Law School so I just want to take the quickest route in finishing an undergrad. I plan on attaining my degree through Excelsior, but finishing any requirements through UMUC, as well as CLEP/DSST's. I figured with all my random credits that would be a Liberal Arts degree (w/ no concentration) from Excelsior.
If anyone has or knows what requirements Excelsior requires for this paticular major please advise. I would like to start studying for some more CLEP or DSST exams now. Here's what I know, I need 9 credits in Humanities, 9 in social science/history etc. But I just want to know with the information previously stated, what requirements am I likely to need, and what tests will fufill these requirements. Thanks!

I believe that at a minimum, Excelsior requires a one credit "Research and Writing in the Major" as well as a three credit capstone course to be taken at their school (some of the major-specific capstones negate the need for the one credit writing course, some don't). They also require a minimum of 30 credits of upper level courses. Their current catalog is available here for more information: http://www.excelsior.edu/c/document_library/get_file?uuid=b559591a-1fde-4135-a958-e29c855b7826&groupId=78666
