Which is easier CLEP humanities or Analysis n Lit - dmar001 - 07-25-2013

I was going through the flashcards and reading the study guides of the clep humanities test. Its just so much information to go over. This morning I'm reading through the threads on this site and didn't realize that the analysis and lit CLEP test is just read the passage and answer the question. I am pretty good at skimming passages to answer questions. Is the analysis and literature CLEP exam easier then the humanities exam? If thats the case I'll stop overloading my brain on humanities facts and just take the analysis exam.

IMHO YES!!! I did look at the Humanities CLEP but only for a short time it is A lot to study. The A & I Lit is really an exam it is hard to study for there are some practice test (my local library even has one online) the thing is you have to know a few literary terms. Study them and know them when you see them and you should be fine. Since you are a IC member you can probably find study info for this exam in the Specific exam feedback area.

I've taken both. The analysis and lit CLEP is MUCH easier.

Ok thats great to know. Since I know theres not a way to really study for this would taking the REA practice tests be good enough for the Analyzing & Interpreting Lit?

The Humanities test has reputation of being VERY broad and thus it is hard to study for this exam. I haven't taken it yet, but my plan is to do Analyzing & Interpreting Literature (done), American Lit. (next scheduled test), English Lit. (next scheduled test), and World Art before attempting the Humanities test. Hopefully, studying for the other CLEPs/DSSTs will make studying for Humanities a little easier as I believe there is some cross over.

I've never been any good at English, I'm a math major. I studied for weeks for Humanities and barely passed, but took A & I Lit cold and passed comfortably.

Does TESC require the essay for credit for the AIL CLEP?

Probably should have asked this sooner, and from a quick glance at old posts it would seem like not, but I am still not clear on all the changes that came with the new requirements at TESC this month.

TIA

Took A&I cold passed with a 60 something I believe, first clep I ever took. I wish they were all that simple. I had no essay.

A&I was the only exam I've taken that I think I could have taken cold and passed. However, I did study for it. Somewhere on this board I posted my tips for passing well.

Yes! That's great practice and if you do well on the REA PTs, you'll most likely pass with room to spare—those PTs are definitely harder than the real CLEP.

The essay shouldn't be required at TESC...hope it's not now!
