Free alternatives to FEMA - champ0608 - 07-06-2013 I'm just curious if there are other ways to earn free credits that TESC would accept for free electives outside of FEMA. I had planned on completing 27 of these courses for my electives, but they are so dry and boring, I just can't bring myself to sit down and get through them. If not other alternatives, are there any good study guides available for the FEMA courses that could help cut down the study time? Thanks for any help Free alternatives to FEMA - sanantone - 07-06-2013 National Fire Academy courses. I think there are 2 or 3 online courses that are ACE approved. Free alternatives to FEMA - sanantone - 07-06-2013 TEEX courses can count as business and computer information systems credits. I think the NFA courses are just free electives, but I'm not sure. They might count toward the area of study for a fire science degree. Free alternatives to FEMA - scryedrulz - 07-07-2013 Good thread! I may look into some of these myself. Some of the FEMA courses are actually missing pieces of info. Probably due to them switching from pdf to web based learning. So watch out on some of the FEMA courses. They are free, but like I said certain ones are missing info. Free alternatives to FEMA - rebel100 - 07-07-2013 Don't forget the three courses at Saylor.org. they are free to take and if you can find a free or cheap proctor for the final it really keeps the cost down. Free alternatives to FEMA - scryedrulz - 07-07-2013 So, I checked out saylor.org looks like TESC accepts Business law and ethics, corporate communications, and intro to western political thought. The first two are for a business degree, but as a liberal arts major would they just go into general electives? Free alternatives to FEMA - sanantone - 07-07-2013 I think Corporate Communications is counted as a humanities course. The managerial/business requirement for TESC business degrees is in the humanities section of the general education requirements. If they give it the COM prefix, then it's humanities. |
