English Comp II - SL or PF - ConflagrateCarl - 06-19-2013 Just wanting to get some information from people who have done ENG - 102 (Eng Comp II) at either SL or PF, or both! Thoughts, concerns, likes, dislikes, etc. Thanks in advance! Carl English Comp II - SL or PF - armyb77 - 06-19-2013 I can't speak to Penn Foster's English Comp II, but I did try straighterline's program before switching over to Propero. Straighterline make's you read Frankenstein, complete written assignments, and take exams. The class was very doable, but I didn't like the writing assignments. I switched to Propero mainly because no one else seemed to have tried them yet, and I was willing to be a guinea pig for the forum. Propero's writing assignments where more difficult, but I enjoyed the type of writing assignments more. I have taken 2 courses with Penn Foster and found them user friendly and easy to complete. The issues that I don't like with Penn Foster is that for some courses you need to find a Proctor locally which can delay the completion of course. Straighterline you can use ProctorU. Unlike many on the forum; I liked ProctorU because it was at home and whenever I wanted to complete it. This made it easy to work with my schedule. I hope this helps, and good luck! Armyb77 English Comp II - SL or PF - chiquitacobbe - 06-19-2013 I took ENG COMP II at SL and it was alot of work and alot of writing but very doable. I can not compare it to PF though. I didn't need to buy a book or anything so the price I think may be comparable to PF which includes the book. I'm not sure if you will be able to complete SL in One month. I guess that will depend on how fast you can write your assignments and how quickly they get graded. On average the turn around time for grading was between 24-48 hours. Also depends on if you will submit your essays for review first that takes another day. The quizzes were pretty easy if you go through the lessons and do the practices as well as downloading the OWL information. Good Luck and feel free to contact me if you need any help with SL. English Comp II - SL or PF - ConflagrateCarl - 06-20-2013 Thank you all for your thoughts. I think I will go with SL for the course and just see what happens. Honestly, I type a lot...and love it. So I think if I focus on just that, I should be able to knock it out in a month or a little more. We'll see though. Upon further searching and reading, I have concluded that even if PF does in fact have an Eng Comp II course (which I couldn't really find), it may not be accepted by TESC. Either way, SL for me! I'll let you all know how it goes! English Comp II - SL or PF - freedegreefree - 06-22-2013 Penn Foster's Advanced Composition ENG 3000 ACE #ICS-0235 is English Composition II equivalent and it does transfer to TESC. You can call Workforce Development or email an adviser and they're more than happy to respond with a course syllabus. English Comp II - SL or PF - Ace_King - 06-23-2013 I finished Penn Foster's Advanced Composition in about a couple of days if I remember correctly. It has LESS work load compared to SL's English 2. When I mean less work load, believe me, less work load. If you don't mind my asking, how do you know the workload is so much less at PF than SL? I'm going to look the course up ASAP and see if I can get some more information about it. Thanks! I had already taken English Comp II with Straighterline and I didn't really like it ACE King was looking to complete Comp II for his TESC degree and I told him not to go with SL for his Comp II. He had already taken English Comp I from PF which was much easier, and required less papers, so he went ahead and signed up for the class. I don't know if he really took 2 days but certainly not more than a week. There is no book to read and it is pretty straightforward, the only thing is being careful and follow the requirements precisely in order to avoid a bad grade. I would totally go with PF instead of SL. I hope this helps. |
