I'm in a bind. I took Anatomy & Physiology I & II via Straighterline without the lab. Now I need the lab. Here's the details:
I was heading for an MS in Occupational Therapy and they didnt require lab in the prereq., so I happily hustled my way through Straighterline. Fast forward, I switched to nursing where my wonderful school does take Straighterline, however, they need labs, and I need to have them done by August.
When I called SL they said I have to retake the course completely ( the whole deal -pay, proctor, and lab kit) - ugh - in order to get the lab. I remember reading somewhere, that someone was able to add the lab on afterwards? But I can't find that thread?
Does anyone know of any other options?!?!?!?!
PS - FYI - Christian International School of Health Professions. CISHP.org Great new little nursing school in Largo, Florida. and they have been wonderful to work with. Great Christian people. Brand new tech equipment and campus. They LOVE Straighterline. 12 month RN program (its 48 weeks, super intensive), They don't do Pell/FAFSA but they do a TON of scholarships and in-house financing......(For me it worked out to be an awesome deal-like less than 10k for an RN in less than 12 months)
I believe they also have a PN-option that is offered partially via distance learning lecture modules. I think you are only on campus for the lab like 1-day a week or biweekly ? Dont get it twisted - its a hard work, intensive school program - they are just friendly to alternative options of learning.

It's probably cheaper and faster to just bite the Buller and do SL again. Even a cheap CC is gonna be $400 and take about 8 weeks or more.

That thread does not indicate the lab can be added afterwards or separately, but rather, the non-lab course no longer duplicates with the lab course. You would still likely need to take both, but at least you could put the non-lab course in an elective slot and save yourself another class. And, hey, you've already done it once so you'd be a leg-up on the material.
Alternatively, I have not really researched any of these so they may be deadends, but did a quick search for "anatomy lab online course" and came up with:

Thank you for your responses. I am debating about biting the bullet and doing them again for sake of time- but FYI for future reference - I did find an option:
Mississippi Delta Community College $110 per credit part/time tuition so the course will be $110, much cheaper than SL. It runs 8 weeks online. I found some good options for online health science prereqs here.

One thing to consider about CISHP is that they do not have academic accreditation. This is why students don't qualify for Pell/FASFA. CISHP could very well offer the highest quality education on the planet, but the politics of the matter is that their courses are not recognised and do not transfer. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, they have BON (and NLN) approval so upon completion of their program students are eligible to sit for the NCLEX. However, limitations exist for graduates of this program if they have plans to go to university for another program such as nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist, leadership, informatics, BSN, etc. Also, it will not be possible to join the nurse corps in any branch of the service, work for the federal government, or teach in a state school.
In regard to the lab, it seems that the Straighterline course with lab offers the best continuity.

Seriously, attending an unaccredited school for nursing seems like such a bad idea! I don't normally come right out and balk at someone's school choice, but you need to reconsider before you worry about the lab. Even if this is okay in FL, what if you'd like to live in another state some day? Run.
NCLEX pass rate isn't listed on website
Dept of Ed current completion rate of for-profit schools is about 27% (73% are not completing!)
RN program might get you to practice, but no options for add'l education.
BSN program is sitting at around $50,000 and they take visa.
Here is my advice, don't worry about anything I just said. Rather please go talk to 1-2 local nurse managers that oversee new hires in your community. Med-surg floor or similar. Please get them to tell you their impression of the school, instructors, and clinical training.

As a compromise short of running â I'm just putting this out there as a thought experiment â how about the Practical Nursing program that this unaccredited startup school also offers, then an accredited LPN-to-RN? Of course Excelsior's LPN-to-RN program, while great, faces barriers to acceptance for RN licensing in some states. But there are other LPN-to-RN programs out there too.

I don't know if that is completely true. Doing and unaccredited RN program does not eliminate the possibility of doing and accredited BSN.

My understanding is that meeting educational criteria to license as a nurse is often â maybe most often, maybe even always or close â based on the applicant's initial, professional-entry-level degree or diploma in nursing, not on any subsequent, post-professional, higher degrees in nursing.

I don't know all of the rules but why can't a licensed RN from an unaccredited school do a BSN at Excelsior?
