I did a search on SpeedyPrep on the forum and couldn't find anything newer than a couple years old so I thought I'd ask.

Is SpeedyPrep any good?

When I went through the process, I used IC and didn't even know about SpeedyPrep. I don't think I'd ever recommend anything over IC but I am thinking about suggesting that students use both of them simultaneously (if I hear good things about SP).

Does SpeedyPrep have something to offer that IC doesn't?

Obviously, the benefit of access to the "secret" parts of these message boards and the lower price of IC are huge points in its favor.

Thanks!

I used them to pass the Macro and Micro economics exams. I tried using IC but I was just not getting it. I got it with speedy prep. They have updated a lot of their courses and their prices are about 29.00 per month. They do not have the forums like IC but I still thought it was worth the price.

You're only getting CLEPs, and then only so many of them. They do have some that IC doesn't offer like Analyzing and Interpreting Lit. They have a progress bar for each set of cards in the topic, and then the whole topic. They used to guarantee that if you finished 100% of course (filled up the entire bar), you'd pass the exam based on their 99 something percent pass rate, but I'm not sure if this is still the case. Regardless, It takes a very long time to finish all of their stuff.
Oh, and you still need to implement other resources to supplement the flash cards, just like IC. IMO, I like IC alot better. As you mentioned the specific exam feedback you get from IC is also a HUGE bonus that you're missing out from with SpeedyPrepl

Since this free site is paid for by InstantCert and SpeedyPrep is a competitor, I don't discuss SpeedyPrep as a courtesy to InstantCert. It is how I show my appreciation for providing this free site which I've found very valuable.

I used a version of SP for all my CLEPs, and it was very helpful. When I started taking my UL DSSTs, I got IC. A big bonus of IC is the SEF, like Publius said.

Thanks y'all for your help! From all that I've seen, SP does seem to be inferior (albeit with one or two plusses) to IC. My website will continue recommending IC over SP.

SP has no community, requires longer commitment to cost less, and doesn't cover DSST's seem to be the three biggest things going against it.

That's true. But I also believe that's it true that the people who run IC (and particularly in regards to these boards) are genuinely interested in assisting people. They're also confident, as they should be, that nothing can match IC or the forums here. Nothing. That includes SpeedyPrep, and other means of competition, such as REA guides, Comex guides, that passyourclass thing, etc. etc. etc. Because all of these are essentially competitors of IC, we could restrain from discussing any of them out of courtesy. 4

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bash what you believe and practice, change your convictions, or do anything of like. Quite the opposite, I respect and understand exactly where you're coming from. I'm merely stating that for those of us who do discuss these issues, we don't have any ill intentions towards IC.
