Which clep test should i take with little time to prep? - AKERR324 - 03-02-2013

HI,

I AM TAKING A CLEP IN 2 DAYS. I need 6 credits to begin a grad program and it can be in any subject matter. I have been studying for the biology exam, but after reading some posts, I am starting to lean toward the analyzing literature clep. I have a strong background in human anatomy, but not a ton in plant anatomy or general Biology. I did well in english (A's). I have never taken any lit classes.

Any help/advice is appreciated!!!

If you did well in English, A&I Lit should be a piece of cake. It's just reading and analyzing passages of prose or poems. Take a practice test to see how you do; if you get over 60%, you should be good to go Smile

A& I Lit is just a fancy title for reading comprehension. Wink Most of the test is just reading passages and answering questions about them.

The A & I Lit. exam is one of the easiest tests, in my opinion. The most helpful source I used was Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP Study Guide - Free-Clep-Prep.com. It has a couple of websites listed - I think one has some poems, etc. to practice your reading comprehension on. Also, this website (Literature*|*Glossary of Poetic Terms) has a bunch on literature terms, and it was exactly what I needed for this test. I just read through all of the terms and wrote them down to help with memorization. That's about all you need! I also used the CLEP Official Study Guide..highly recommended because it's always a good indicator of the real test. Unfortunately, this particular test doesn't have a lot of available preparation material, simply for the fact that it's basically a reading comprehension exam, with literature terms thrown in too Smile.

Thanks so much. My only concern is that there will be a ton of poems/works I am unfamiliar with and I will be completely lost!!

you only need to understand what is happening in the poem ,you don't need to know anything about the poem since the poem is on the test for you to read.

That's right. As long as your Reading Comprehension is good, and you have a good grasp of literary terms, you'll be all set!

Intro to Psych CLEP is fairly easy if you know the basics. Scoial Sciences supposedly isn't too bad if you know your basic history and sociology and psychology. Nothing too in-depth.

And I'll second that Biology is a monster. It's one of the tougher tests not because the subject is too hard but that it covers so much. It was actually the first CLEP I passed but thank God I did because it was tough.
