First CLEP Test coming up. Am I ready? - lkm370 - 02-24-2013

I'll be taking my first CLEP test after Spring Break. Despite the posts I've read about the test being easy, I'm somewhat nervous about taking it. Ive been studying for over a month so far.

So far Ive used the following sources to study:
1)REA Sociology book
2)Cliffnotes Solciology
3)Sociology for Dummies Book
4)2 Intro to Sociology books from my College Library

Ive taken the Peterson tests, scored 78,76, and 68% on the 3 tests.
Ive taken the REA tests in the back of the book and got between 3-6 questions wrong per 100 question section.
Ive taken the McGraw Hill textbook Ch tests and my scores vary from 85% to 52%

I guess from anyone reading this, it seems I'm ready to take the test, but still I'm a bit nervous. Unfortunately, I do have ADD which means I take longer to memorize stuff and sometimes I can't even recall something after reading it 5 times over. This is what has be a bit worried. So am I ready? Should I be nervous?

It looks like you're very ready, but you still have a bit of time so study some more just to be sure. It never hurts to use the remaining days to brush up a bit more, just to be sure. We all get the jitters before these exams, particularly the first one. Take a few deep breaths, study some more if you think you need (or take a day off if you're getting stressed from overstudy) and do your best. Given those pre-test scores, you should do just fine.

When you get to the test stuff will jump off the page after this much prep! If you are not having this experience, read the answers first as sort of a prompt and get after it!!

Ask yourself, "what's the worst that could happen if I fail this exam?" You probably won't be taken out at dawn and shot. Maybe you absolutely, positively HAVE to pass this course by a certain date to gain something important. If that's the case, then continue to study. If, however, you have the time (6 months if you HAVE to have this test instead of a substitue), and the money, I say take it. You seem ready. Good luck. I'd like to say that the first test is the hardest, but you might still have economics or math or something like that (she said, channeling Barbie).

Intro to sociology is infamous for being one of the easier college courses, no matter the school. The exam shouldn't be tough. Free-clep-prep rated it as level 2, being quite easy. It seems you've done a lot of studying and shouldn't worry so much about your knowledge of the material. Remember you just need to pass (in most cases), and that's approximately getting half of the answers correct (not exactly, since it's a graded score, but you get the idea). I think you should take a little time to brush up on your test taking skills if you haven't in some time, that made a big difference to me. It helped me manage my time during the exam and so forth.

Also, I just saw your scores and they are way high. I tend to feel comfortable after getting a 60 on the peterson's, they're generally considered harder than the clep.
