Passed Macro! now time for Micro - seanmathews - 01-18-2013 Passed Macro today with a 59, got about a weeks worth of studying in, and it was just enough to get by. Next up for me is Micro which I'm hoping another week is sufficient enough for study. For those who have taken Micro after Macro, how was the over lap? And any study recommendations that helped specifically for Micro? So far I just plan to use REA book, IC, specific feedback, and khan academy. Always open for suggestions. Thanks! Passed Macro! now time for Micro - Can219 - 01-19-2013 Congrats!! After I finish my ALEKS I will be taking Macro first.....Where do you get the REA Book? Is that something I can get off Amazon.com or half.com? Any advice for the Macro Test?? Good Luck with Micro! Passed Macro! now time for Micro - seanmathews - 01-19-2013 Yes that is correct. I got both Macro and Micro REA books off amazon. The rea book gave me a semi solid outline of macro, and IC , specific feedback, youtube video lesson and khan academy, filled everything in. The test was pretty straight forward to the study material. How is Aleks working for you? I need to take a few maths eventually but I'm a bit intimidated about teaching myself stats, trig or business math. I took them in high school but don't remember much at all. How long does each course usually take? Passed Macro! now time for Micro - mustaf2552 - 01-20-2013 For Macro, Can i just rely on Instant Cert.? All i need is 3 credits Passed Macro! now time for Micro - dewisant - 01-20-2013 Free Clep Prep.com People use this resource as well. Passed Macro! now time for Micro - freddy - 01-20-2013 I pretty much just used instantcert to pass microeconomics. i just ran through the cards until i had filled in all of the blanks. i would make new stacks of cards that I missed. gradually The amount of cards in the stacks went to zero. i took macroeconomics first. i studied the same amount of time for micro as i did macro, but I scored a lot higher on the micro test Passed Macro! now time for Micro - mustaf2552 - 01-20-2013 Freddy, So all u did was just instcert? How much time it took you to study one subject- Macro? How many hrs? Passed Macro! now time for Micro - SoliDeoGloria - 01-20-2013 seanmathews Wrote:Yes that is correct. How was the REA book for Macro and Micro Economics? Have you had much experience in either one before? I looked at the reviews on Amazon for these books, and most of them said that these REA books are confusing if you don't have a background. I'm planning to take both of these next, so just wanted to ask. Another resource I had recommended to me by Free CLEP Prep was the Princeton Review Macro and Micro economics AP book, so I'm going to try that one. Any thoughts on the REA books though? And from what I've read, it would be good to supplement the IC flashcards with other resources? Do the flashcards contain accurate information in regards to what is on the actual CLEP tests? Passed Macro! now time for Micro - ryoder - 01-20-2013 The REA books for economics rock. I have no econ background and these were the first 2 CLEP tests I ever took. They did a great job of preparing me for the exam and I still remember most of the important concepts now. It also helped a great deal in my MBA classes. I also used speedyprep, an alternative to IC which has far fewer courses. I didn't know about IC till after I took those two. About 14 hours for macro and 14 hours for Micro. i studied for 7 hours each day for two days and then on the third day took the test. i then repeated the process for the other test. |
