The Great Straighterline Blackout of 2012 - bluk30 - 12-28-2012

Hey everyone,

My wife has been plugging away at Straighterline for the past two months and hit a major snag
this past week. Apparently after the Moodle switchover SL has been having major technical issues
and a lot of their students have been locked out of their classes since around the 18th.

My wife had three classes done (except for the proctored final), and now it looks like Moodle might have
erased all of her course progress. She's freaking out, and I don't blame her.

The week before this she was complaining that the ProctorU sign up system wasn't working, and now this?!

Is there anyone else out there dealing with this?

Not the same issue, but an issue with Straighterline nonetheless. I was trying to be done with all of my classes by 12/31 so that I could graduate in March, rather than June if I go into January. I submitted my first draft paper for English Composition II and after not getting a response in 2 days I contacted Straighterline who said that 5-6 days is normal. It actually took 8 days for me to receive a response on my paper, so I knew at that point I could never been done in time with another 14 papers due, including drafts.

I have had nothing but issues since Straighterline switched to Moodle. I never had any problems when it was Blackboard.

StraighterLine extends its sincere apologies to any students who experienced technical difficulties when we switched from Blackboard to Moodle on December 12th. As Bluk30 explains above, his wife and about 2% of our customers experienced intermittent technical difficulties for about one week after the changeover.

At this point, we believe that less than 7 students remain affected by the original glitch, and we are reaching out to each of those students to offer personalized service to ensure they have the support they need to complete their courses and exams. Partial refunds for lost time are being offered to affected students. If you were affected, please contact StraighterLine at 1.877.787.8375 or send us a note from here: Contact Us - StraighterLine.

For essay delays, an unusual volume of submissions occurred at the end of the semester causing a delay in essay returns. Essay turnaround times should be back to the normal 2-3 days in the New Year. Again, thank you for bearing with us as we add new courses, features and services to StraighterLine.

Sincerely,

Burck Smith
