So who takes DETC credits - lila329 - 12-22-2012

Hi,

Who takes DETC transfer credits? Looking to hear from anyone who has transfer DETC credits to one of the big three.

Not to start a debate, just wondering if anything has changed.

Thanks!

COSC & TESC will only accept credits from regionally accredited schools. If these courses are also ACE-approved then you could transfer them over but on an ACE transcript, not directly from the DETC school.

Excelsior College seems to be the exception of the Big 3, but there's a process to go through to get approval for these credits and you may not get all of them. Check out p. 38 of their Student Policy Handbook for more.

Besides the Big 3 I've heard, but have not confirmed, that American Public University and Liberty University both will accept DETC credits. Depending upon how many you have either of these could be a better option if Excelsior doesn't work out. Also Western Governors University has both regional and national accreditation so that could be the best option overall, especially if you like their unique format.
