1st Degree at 50! PASS EVERY EXAM. THIS IS THE WAY I DID. - bandele - 11-11-2012

Good day everyone,

One of the comments left on my post was to give back, so here is the method I used to pass 19 exams (Clep and DSST).

http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-thomas-edison-charter-oak-specific/17623-thank-you-all-1st-degree-50-a.html

1. Read Instantcert flash cards between 1 to 3 times depending on your knowledge and comprehension of the subject matter.

2. While reading cut and past the sections you need to go over and give more attention too into a Word document.

3. Spend between 12 to 24 hours studying for each exam.

4. Use the internet to help gain understanding of the subject. (Youtube is great)

5. Spend at least 5 days to 2 weeks preparing, not more or less. (If one stretches their studying out, one tends to forget facts)

6. Buy at least 2 used text books not more then 8 years old and review the relevant sections. Also, thoroughly read the glossary in the text books.

7. Before doing any of the above read the comments in this and other forums about the exam you will be taking.

So here it is the formula I used to pass all the exams I took.

Now I am off to my next degrees, which will entail taking 20 more Clep, DSST and other exams.

Again, Much Thanks To All and Let Me Know How This Formula Works For You.

thanks you so much! I thought I am only oldie here. At 44 trying excelsior nursing. I could finish whole nursing part in 6 weeks but strugling with this algebra for last 5 weeks , already postponed exam twice and still not sure when will i be able to give.

@ bandele thank you for the breakdown of your method. I agree with most but I never bothered to buy a textbook. Practice test and maybe REA books did it for me along with the rest of your suggestions.
@ lamar Did you think about trying ALEKS for your Algebra? I was 52 when I got my first degree. I hadn't taken a math class in over 20 years, ALEKS worked for me, I tested out of most things but for math I just felt I needed more.

I love your 7 steps. Studying can get overwhelming with the abundance of data we are learning. Thanks for the post.

IrishJohn and Lamar, if it makes you feel any better, or younger . . . I'm 63, my last classes were over 35 yrs. ago. Hope to have my degree before my Medicare card.

And congratulations Bandele! Great job!
