Penn Foster Programming Language Credit @ TESC - brucet3 - 11-05-2012 In my major concentration at TESC I need a programming language. Would the the "Intro to Programming" course @ Penn Foster (it IS still ACE approved) meet that requirement? Its in the Area of Study: BSBA CIS catergory. Thanks if you know, please share the knowledge! Penn Foster Programming Language Credit @ TESC - brucet3 - 11-19-2012 Hello out there... anyone have a clue? Penn Foster Programming Language Credit @ TESC - brucet3 - 11-28-2012 Hey everyone one, just as a heads up, I dug deeper (I know, that's what she said) and found out that the ACE accredited Penn Foster, Introduction to Programming course does indeed fulfill the BSBA in CIS, Area of Study, Programming Language requirement! I signed up through the Workforce Development phone number 1-800-238-9554 and Annie took really good care of me. The total for the Ala Cart course is ~$230 which includes the textbook shipped to your door in 3-5 business days. Penn Foster Programming Language Credit @ TESC - bluk30 - 12-03-2012 Hey brucet3, that's a great heads up. I've been thinking about doing the certificate in CIS, so thank you for posting this. Do you happen to have any idea what else TESC takes from Penn Foster's computer offerings? Does the systems analysis and design transfer over? Also, I notice that you have a Microsoft cert. Does that apply directly to the CIS area of study as well? Thanks again, the CIS seems to be something not a lot of people have experience with, so it's good to see how people fill in the credits. Penn Foster Programming Language Credit @ TESC - sanantone - 12-03-2012 TESC only takes ACE-approved courses from Penn Foster and any other nationally accredited school. Penn Foster let the ACE approval for most of their computer courses expire in 2011 and earlier. Intro to Programming, Computer Applications, and Intro to Computer Programming are still ACE-approved. You can check accreditation status at the link below. Any course that says "present" is still approved. Most of the courses that expired 09/30/2012 are probably going to be reapproved soon. There have been no signs that the other ones are going to be reevaluated. ACE CREDIT | The National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training Penn Foster Programming Language Credit @ TESC - brucet3 - 01-31-2013 So here I find myself 3 credits short of graduating in June. I need ANOTHER CIS elective and am considering taking Penn Fosters Essential Computer Skills CSC108. I'll lt everyone know what TESC says about it tomorrow. Penn Foster Programming Language Credit @ TESC - bluk30 - 02-02-2013 Please do keep us informed. I'm curious what TESC will give for it (if anything). If the Penn Foster course falls through, another option may have just opened up for some quick computer security credits. We're all still waiting to hear back from TESC about what they will transcribe as, but the courses are free and done like FEMA credit (totally online - quick and easy). Keep an eye on the "TEEX" thread here: http://www.degreeforum.net/general-education-testing-discussion/18223-free-college-credit-teex-4.html Penn Foster Programming Language Credit @ TESC - brucet3 - 02-02-2013 Ok! I'll keep everyone updated. If this course youre talking about pans out, I might kiss you sir. Well, probably not on the mouth. Probably... Penn Foster Programming Language Credit @ TESC - bluk30 - 02-02-2013 Haha No problem. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about TEEX myself. What did TESC transcribe your Penn Foster "Intro To Programming" as?
