Help designing degree plan for Excelsior College. - craig.stephen - 10-20-2012 Hi Everyone! I have been looking through this forum for the last few weeks and found tons of helpful resources, however I am having trouble developing a degree plan; mostly trying to figure out course equivalences. I am very new to the whole idea of "college", I graduated at 16 being home schooled, maintaining a GPA of 3.55 and am now 20. I would like to start taking CLEP test as well as any other exams that would help me obtain an "Associates in Science in Technology" and then a "Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology" from Excelsior. After that I would like to be able to obtain an actual degree in Computer/Electronic/Electrical Engineering degree from either the University of Minnesota or the University of Texas. I also have no SAT or ACT score, and as I implied before I never had the opportunity to be introduced to the idea of "college" by counsellors or advisors. Any and all advice will help, I have "made plans" and even enrolled in community colleges the last 3 years with failed attempts to even get started. I really want to go this route as I don't care to ever take a college class until I MUST. I doubt any college would accept your BS EET just to earn a BS EE. And there is no way to entirely test out of an EET degree, you can test out of everything except the electronics. If you choose the EET, some colleges accept it for getting a MS EE, maybe taking an extra math and science class before starting but nothing major. But if you want to make it work best, while its accepted to take algebra based physics, you should really take a calculus based one. If your interested, Univ of North Dakota has an EE program entirely online, with only the last 30 credits from UND Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering | Online & Distance Education Help designing degree plan for Excelsior College. - craig.stephen - 10-20-2012 Thank you very much hmuchmo1, this looks very interesting to me! I recommend taking the 5 CLEP General Exams. They are worth 6 credits each, which gives you 30 credits in 5 tests. That will give you a boost of momentum for either taking more tests, or starting at any university that accepts you with quite a headstart, as 30 credits is roughly equivalent to 1 year of undergraduate study. |
