I am now unemployed - scorched - 10-19-2012 Figured that would draw your attention.. But it's only temporary, I turned in my 2 week notice, and because I am leaving for a competitor they showed me the door. Good news is that I get paid my normal salary because of I gave the 2 weeks, and have been helpful in turn over of my projects. And I start my new job on the 29th. I post this really as an interesting note for the company I am joining, they offer the typical 5K a year in tuition assistance. But that is for undergrad, they offer 10K a year for grad studies, that much can go a looong way.. This will change my plans for the better! They do not cover cleps or dsst and similar testing, but is outstanding to have this kind of assistance. So I encourage you to check with your HR department and ask. I am now unemployed - LaterBloomer - 10-19-2012 Do you also visit degreeinfo.com? It seems to me that they discuss masters degrees more frequently, so you might want to wander over there to see where you can get the most bang for your buck. Good luck with the new job. I am now unemployed - scorched - 10-19-2012 I have seen that site before, but I like the people here, so I don't wander too far. But I noticed you mentioned location at Wash metro.. is that the Wash DC metro? or other? If so I am near quantico.. Plus for my masters, may consider to GWU, Johns Hopkins, others of course.. GMU has a MS and Phd I would consider, in systems engineering and operations research. But thanks for the tip on the other forum. I am now unemployed - ryoder - 10-19-2012 This forum is somewhat more positive in my experience. I am now unemployed - LaterBloomer - 10-20-2012 As the crow flies? We're close. As the car drives? You're MUCH more distant. I am now unemployed - OtherSyde - 10-20-2012 Well good luck man. I'm totally interested in a Masters now as well, since I'm nearing my Bachelors and because and everyone including Paris Hilton's chihuahua seems to have a friggin Bachelors these days. Seriously, I was at the Honolulu Zoo the other day and I'm pretty sure I overheard a colony of chimpanzees discussing their various Bachelors majors. I think they went to the University of Phoenix online though, so we still have something on them. That's awesome that they will pay $10,000 per year towards your masters! A masters is only like 30 more credits, too, and with that kind of funding you won't have to scramble for money. Nice. I only get $5k per year in the Navy, I think even for Graduate level classes. |
