Sorting these classes out for BSBA subjects please help - seanmathews - 09-29-2012

This is the list of classes I have completed and am hoping transfers to TESC. Most of these were done at my CC, along with a few CLEPs and FEMAS.
Im trying to make an outline of classes for my BSBA General Management, but im having a hard time figuring out which will fall under certain subjects, humanities, sciences, electives and such.

If anyone could help me sort through these or any advice on how to figure out an outline, please share.
I have looked over the BSBA plans on wiki, which has helped me select a few classes i need, but as far as sorting this, im lost.

First step, I'll teach you to fish. http://www.degreeforum.net/general-education-testing-discussion/7793-alpha-numerics-dummies.html
Secondly, type out your list and I'll correct anything you put in the wrong spot.
Hints:
20 courses (including your 9 FEMA, each counted as 1) are free elective
3 courses are social science
4 courses are natural science/math
6 courses are humanities

COU163 I am leaving out because I don't know where it falls. Could be social science, could be free elective- anyone?

P.S. Also helpful if you put number of credits behind each course.
P.S.S. quit taking FEMAs you're well past your free elective cap.

Ok, chop chop! Smile

COU is a Human Services area course (not a social science or other gen ed area) however you might be able to have them accept it as something else. Once TESC evaluates it then you can go back and try to get it to match somewhere else. One of the coolest tools to look at is the PLA search tool. Obviously you don't need a PLA course but it lets you search the entire database of course codes (Thomas Edison State College: Course Offerings). Search COU and you'll see they don't appear to have a good match in that area for your course. They will give you credit for it, but what that is might be in a different area or they might put in a custom course code and number it COU-199. Do an evaluation and then you can work with them to match it to something that you can use.

When you say make a list, do you mean, post my BSBA outline and add my current classes where i think they belong?
I will be sure to add the credit amounts in there
I want to continue taking FEMAs so i can pick up an AAS for the heck of it Smile

Yes, create and post your degree plan, so that you know how to do it and can make changes as you need to and forum members can give you tips and suggestions.

Your fire and EMT courses might already fill much of the area of study for the AAS.

Yes, this is likely true. My math (based on not knowing number of credits) is showing him as pretty darn close or complete on the AAS area of study too. The only thing I don't know, is if they'll accept across disciplines inside that 21 credit set. For instance, are FEMA, EMT, Fire similar enough to calculate together into one area of study? If so, you're probably looking at over 22 already (I counted Fire courses at 1 credit each and EMT w/lab as 6 but THIS is not something I'd take to the bank, we are just spit-balling.) Again, you can stop taking FEMA because you're likely already full on the AAS and you for sure are already full on the 18 in your business degree.

Alrighty there is my Degree Plan, as noted the bold areas are tests i have not taken yet. Im sure there are a handful of mistakes on here, so any help is appreciated, also for the Business specific area, if you can recommend some classes for the blanks that are testable or most common/recommended, please do.
Also, if you see a test i have not taken yet, but know of a better way to take it, please share Smile

Thanks again everyone for your input.

You had credits all over the place with too many in most areas and a ton of them were in general elective areas that can't be (see blue courses toward the bottom). Keep an eye on the TESC website version of your degree (http://www.tesc.edu/business/bsba/General-Management.cfm) and make sure each area only contains the credits allowed. The below chart is a better representation of what you need.

Note the following changes (look at the credits that moved):
