TESC and Fund of Gerontology ECE - sklineho - 08-19-2012 After searching, I found older threads from 2010 that claim the ECE is considered a 200 level class at TESC. However, now Excelsior apparently has changed the exam to count as SOCX310. Does TESC now accept this test s UL? I really wish TESC would just post a page listing the ECEs and how the count them like they did with CLEP. Would make life much easier and ake the guesswork out of a lot of this. TESC and Fund of Gerontology ECE - sklineho - 09-08-2012 I hate bumping posts but I need an answer on this one. Even seaching here gave me little to nothing. I found one Degree plan thread where someone mentioned using the FOG exam for credit but they didn't say if it was UL. Does anyone know? TESC and Fund of Gerontology ECE - sanantone - 09-08-2012 From the PLA database: Foundations of Gerontology (GER-216) 3.00 s.h.** Questions are based on material normally taught in a one-semester, introductory course in gerontology at the undergraduate level. The exam measures knowledge and understanding of the biological, psychological, and social aspects of aging as well as the ability to describe, understand, and analyze issues pertaining to the functioning and well-being of the elderly. Emphasis is placed on both normal aspects of and problems associated with aging. Foundations of Gerontology (SOC-216) 3.00 s.h.* Study of biological, physchological, and social aspects of aging and an understanding of issues, needs, and realities involved in the aging process. Includes theories, concepts, empirical patterns, and their implications for policy and practice. Social Gerontology (SOC-315) 3.00 s.h.* Provides an understanding the processes of aging, examines old age as a stage of life, and discusses the impact of aging on society and of society on aging. ACE recommends the test for upper level credit. Either TESC is going to go with the ACE recommendation or they are going to go with the first two courses posted above, which are lower level. |
