Biology question - LuBee - 05-03-2007

To those who have taken Bio,

I am scheduled to take CLEP Biology next week. In my studies there seems to be all kinds of molecular formulas. How much do I need to focus on them? What kind of emphasis was put on knowing those formulas in the test?

Biology question - carlosamador2006 - 05-03-2007

You mean the Decomp, Comb, and Replacement formulas? I am not sure what you meant. But there wasn't that many questions based on those formulas. Definitely need to know the parts of the animal and plant cells, mitosis, meiosis, photosynthesis, properties of water, types of bonds, proteins, carbs, lipids, enzyme, glycolysis. Here is a good link that really helped me when I was studying for the exam - CLEP: Biology

Don't forget is 115 questions.

I don't recall any "formulas" per se.

What I meant rather than formula was do I need to know things like the molecular structure of things like ATP, starches, etc...
Cause my brain just won't cooperate with internalizing such things along with all of the other bio info that I am trying to cram into it.

Biology question - yumeji - 05-03-2007

When i took the Biology CLEP (considering the questions are centrally pooled), i didnt have anything come up concerning formulas or molecular structures. Although, you do need to know what carlosamador2006 said in the terms for animal and plant cells. But i'm sure thats not what your asking. ^^

Thanks for the clarification. That gives my mind some relief. This is my last test (at least that's my plan) and I think I have what my daughter now has - senioritis. Once the twelfth graders are this close to graduating they have trouble focusing on their studies. I think I have something similar going on. And biology is probably the most challenging for me in terms of study. I hope the test is not as difficult as I've imagined it to be.

Looking through your list (which i should make my signature have my list as well), i think you will be able to manage it. I know what you mean though, i have only two ECE tests remaining (taking one on monday and one on friday that same week). And i am feeling that old thing known as "senioritis", just not to the same degree as someone who is at their last test. ^_~

yumeji,

Thanks for your feedback.

Here's to both of us wrapping up our degrees this month!

Biology question - mattie - 05-03-2007

I just recently took CLEP Biology, it went right alone with the test outline provided by the college board. Yes, know ATP, and DNA and RNA and what composes them, how they connect with molecules. types of molecular bonding.. ionic, covalent, and hydrostatic. there were A LOT of questions on mitosis, and meiosis. ya know, like all the steps, interphase, metaphase, prophase, and anaphase-- in depth.
so that and the basic evolutionary therories. You'll do fine!!!!
good luck

My Biology test has been moved up to tomorrow morning. I think that I am ready. I hope that I am ready. By tomorrow at noon I will know whether or not I have passed it and have finally completed all of my degree requirements.
