Dont get the GPA TESC CLEP system. PLS HELP - thedaye - 05-29-2012

Ok, so here is the deal.

I am taking CLEPS like crazy and I am sending them to TESC. I want to get a degree in social sciences. Now I hear some people here say that TESC does not give you any GPA for CLEPS and that I would need to take (only) ONE class at TESC to get a GPA on my transcript. For example "living in the information age"

Now here are my questions. Does it really work? I mean, is it that simple? Just take ONE class and get a great GPA on the entire degree? I mean, of course employers might look into it deeper and see that the GPA comes only from one course, but if not, then this one course will make my GPA on the transcript?

Is there no requirement that I would need to have xx many credits at TESC in order to get a GPA at all?

Also, are the CLEPS really just pass/fail? I don't pass mine with a great 80 or so, I simply "MAKE" it with a 51-55. Does it matter at all?

Thank you so so so much!

Your over-thinking.

Your GPA is your GPA, you get a Grade Point Average rather they are averaging a single course or multiples. So yes, you get a GPA from as little as one course.

TESC does not assign a grade to CLEP exams...so for them, they are just pass fail. Some schools will assign a grade for these like COSC with older DSST exams...but to my knowledge TESC does not.

Question for the board....will TESC provide a GPA for their own TECEP exams?

wow. so this one course will do, huh?
that is good news!

by the way, any idea if TESC accepts 25 or 27 FEMA in free electives?

They will accept 27.

let's keep things simple.
ANYTHING that you take ANYWHERE besides TESC does not give you a grade (GPA).
Classes you take AT TESC give you grades.
This is pretty much how all colleges work.

FWIW, I don't think anyone has EVER asked me for my GPA since 1988. (except grad school admissions, but even then, not every one of them Smile)

TESC only gives a "CR" grade to all exams including the TECEP exams. To get a GPA at TESC you must take a course.
