Failed/Extremely Hard Exams - Publius - 05-08-2012 There are quite a few people out there who haven't failed any CLEPs/DSSTs/ECEs/TECEPs etc. but there are also several of us who have failed one or more of these tests. There's a lot to learn from our failures and also quite a bit others may be able to learn from them as well... hence the thread. Which test(s) did you fail (if any)? Why do you think you failed? (i.e. not enough time spent studying, misleading study resources, etc.) Also out of the tests you've taken which tests were the hardest? Did you do something different on the second time around? Failed/Extremely Hard Exams - Publius - 05-08-2012 As for myself, I've failed one exam - The Principles of Management CLEP and it was with a 48. I spent hardly anytime studying for it (I had just had surgery) and was largely unfamiliar with key historic theories, who formed them, or the steps in them. I didn't use IC, and only took the first Peterson exam (67%). Biology was probably the hardest, as I just don't have a liking for it much. Failed/Extremely Hard Exams - cookderosa - 05-08-2012 I failed Civil War and Reconstruction. MANY people never fail one, which is a testament to why this forum ROCKS. I attempted 17 exams and passed 16 yielding me 60 credits in all. Failed/Extremely Hard Exams - Publius - 05-08-2012 cookderosa Wrote:I failed Civil War and Reconstruction. Out of the pool of people who have taken CLEPs and DSSTs, IC members must have the highest passing percentage, while non-IC users probably have a much lower pass rate. I suppose it would be difficult to prove that statement, but I wouldn't in the least be shocked or surprised if that was the truth. Because this place does indeed "ROCK"! Failed/Extremely Hard Exams - Lyanne - 05-08-2012 I haven't failed any, but I did bail on one and forfeit my testing center fee because I didn't feel ready. Failed/Extremely Hard Exams - submissiongrappler - 05-09-2012 I have only failed one..twice. Principles of Management. Same score: 48. I'm telling you, that exam hates me! Failed/Extremely Hard Exams - Bibby - 05-09-2012 I've never failed a CLEP, but College Algebra was a nightmare. I passed with a 56, but it was tough - far harder than the sample test in the old College Board CLEP book I have. Failed/Extremely Hard Exams - dewisant - 05-09-2012 The GRE Psychology Subject test. I scored a 500 the only time I took it, too low to receive any semester credits. I then stupidy gave up by not continuing to study and trying again for as many times as it took to get a high enough score, thereby throwing my knowledge away. Now, Excelsior doesn't accept them anymore and I threw away my chance at getting those credits. To try until, to study until...this is what I learned from it. Failed/Extremely Hard Exams - rebel100 - 05-09-2012 Never failed one myself (but only took 2). My daughter destroyed every test she took...except CLEP College Algebra. We have a "pass rate" thread here- our rate is very high. Sometimes people compare it to the military's published pass rates, but those are very low (likely because they can test for free). But, I had a conversation several years back with a student services rep at Kaplan's local Davenport IA campus. We were going to set up an articulation agreement between his program and ours (this conversation was for my job) and he agreed that we could use CLEP to meet prereqs and it wouldn't hurt them because "no one ever passes those things" |
