What are the pro/cons of choosing one over the other 2? Trying to narrow down which of the three to apply to, to get an eval done with.

It is truly a personal choice and it depends on many things including what credits you bring in, what degree you want, and how much you want to spend.

Check out these links, otherwise use the search feature of this page to get hundreds of other people's opinions on the schools:

and of course check out each school's website.

The choice is yours, pick the one that meets your needs and you should be all set. For me it's TESC, for others Excelsior. I'd say stick to TESC or Excelsior but that's just my opinion...

Without looking into the different available courses, the biggest difference I see is cost. Excelsior is $355 per credit hour. Thomas Edison is $157 in-state, and $212 out-of-state. Does Thomas Edison give in-state rates for military and vets? Even if they do not give a discount, that i still $429 less, for every class, than Excelsior.

That's a pretty bold statement considering two things:

A. TESC has the highest student fee's of the big three
B. EC requires FEMA to go through FCC before they will award credit upping the cost for no real reason.

That said, it does indeed come down to personal choice and any of the big 3 will serve you well.

For me, Charter Oak had the very best service...it really was far superior...and that even before applying. Charter Oak also had the very best take on how I could best use F/A to cover my costs (I went to two schools under an articulation agreement to get full benefits, COSC and CSU-Pueblo).

I will add that if I had it to do all over again and was starting from zero I would probably choose TESC and get a business degree. Consider also that I will likely make a run at EC's RN Bridge program this year. All three serve a purpose. None of them are a bad choice.

I would take as few courses with the big 3 as possible...With few exceptions you can find a cheaper alternative elsewhere...take as many clep/dsst/straighterline as possible. Addcheap courses from elsewhere like CSU-Pueblo, LSU, U of Idaho, BYU, FEMA, transfer all that in and get the degree cheap chap cheap.

BTW COSC is at $225/cr I believe.

Dont you have to take a minimum of 6 courses from Excelsior to receive their degree? When I was looking at their Health Care Management bachelor's, there are 7 "core" classes that I dont think you can test out of, and that is not counting the mandatory capstone. That right there is about $9,000, not counting the other 100 credits needed. But, I think Im going to go for the fastest degree possible. Which school has the smallest number of "required" attending classes? That sounded dumb, what I meant was, which one requires the fewest number of credits taken from that school?

It is dependent somewhat on the degree you choose.

TESC has no minimal requirement...though they threaten to add a capstone every year. As far as I know you can transfer in 120 hours to them and graduate from there. They are also the most liberal on awarding UL credit for exams like Principles of Management/Marketing. You only need 18 credits at the UL in some degree tracks.

EC has a capstone, but you can import the other 117 credits AFAIK

COSC requires a cornerstone class (3 credits LL) and a Capstone (3 credits UL) as a minimal.

The low/no residency is what makes them special...it is the essence of why they are called "The Big 3"

Post 700....WOOT WOOT

Are you needing to use F/A? Do you plan to test out of many credits? I forgot if you told me...what is the end goal? I remember you are in a B&M, how many credits do you have and what are they?

Without the above it's difficult to give you useful specific guidance.

As a rule, if you have a way to swallow the upfront fee, TESC will likley be the best bang for your buck in a general business management degree.....but that still depends on the above questions.

Thats an overview of my community college transcript. The three classes labeled currently taking, I finished those. Got 1 A, 2 B's. Along with that I also have 41 ace credits from military. I want the fastest possible degree, with the least amount of tests need to be taken, with the least amount of time and money needed. Based on my transcript it says I have 54 gpa hours, I believe I actually have 60 possible credits. Combined with SMART, I have a total possible amount of 101 credits, but theres no way I can use all of those. Im thinking I might just have to bite the bullet and have pay for both schools to perform a credit evaluation.
