Humanities CLEP Exam - th3futile - 03-31-2012 Hey everyone! I'm new here, and I'm loving it so far ![]() Questions! I have a Humanities CLEP test coming up on April 25th. Any advice for the test? I plan on studying using InstantCert only. If I go through all of the InstantCert topics, and get those answers down as tight as I can, will I be fine for the test? It's my first CLEP, so any advice is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks all ![]() Humanities CLEP Exam - ShotoJuku - 03-31-2012 Shoto-Advice: :iagree:

Pre-Study-Prep: Obtain or set up whatever materials I will need to study (IC Flashcards, REA Books, Standard Deviants Videos, Pass-Your-Class Guides, and Petersons Practice Exams. Week One: Begin to read books, review flashcards, watch videos. Call your test center and make an appointment in advance as they sometimes require a few weeks advance notice) Week Two: Re-read books, review flashcards, watch videos Take 1-2 practice exams Week Three: Continue to review all materials, take additional/final practice exams. You should be passing these with room to spare. Take real exam at end of the week and PASS. Note you should have at this point already acquired pre-study-prep materials for your next exam so as not to waste time. Something Else To Know FACT: The lowest possible score is a 20. The highest possible is an 80. FACT: Approx. 1/2 the questions on the test must be successfully answered to get a 50, or a pass. THE HYPOTHESIS: In a 100 question test, such as Sociology and many others, there are only 60 possible points (between 20-80) for 100 questions. 60 points divided by 100 questions = .6pts If each questions is worth .6 points, 50 correct questions = 50q X .6pts = 30pts You must add 20 since 0 correct questions = 20pts. 30 points + 20 points = 50 points, or a pass. Now: If each point in a 100 question test is worth .6 points, 100 questions X .6 points = 60; 60 + 20 = 80. By this formula, answering 75 questions correctly would translate to a score of 65. Humanities CLEP Exam - anew789 - 04-01-2012 I just took this exam a couple of weeks ago. What others tend to say about it being difficult is true. It was hard for me and I love Humanities. Just FYI - I've read that the Analyzing & Interpreting Literature CLEP is FAR easier and also worth 6 credits. But if you still want to stick with the Humanities for your first exam, just study, study, study as much as possible! Since this is your first CLEP, it would be so disheartening if you didn't pass it, so make sure you know your stuff. I used instantcert and bought a college Humanities textbook and read it front to back in my spare time. I passed the test, but it was not easy. It covers a broad range of material, so I would suggest at least picking up the official Humanities CLEP study guide in addition to using instantcert. Best of luck to you!! Humanities CLEP Exam - th3futile - 04-05-2012 Thanks for your input! Perhaps I should look more into the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature exam. I have also heard it was easier, but didn't have much luck with the practice exams. I ultimately chose Humanities because of my passions for music, which I heard was a good chunk of the exam. Is that accurate? Humanities CLEP Exam - anew789 - 04-09-2012 th3futile Wrote:Thanks for your input! Perhaps I should look more into the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature exam. Is that accurate? I think music only makes up about 15% of the exam. The rest of the exam includes questions concerning literature, poetry, fiction/non-fiction, art, sculpture, philosophy, film/dance, and architecture. But if you're doing instantcert and studying the guide, I think you'll do great on it. Humanities CLEP Exam - dewisant - 04-09-2012 Sorry, can't help, I took this one paper/pencil when it took a 420 or better to get the credits. Is that accurate? I was in the same boat; I needed five credits to finish off my humanities requirement at Excelsior and was planning on taking the Humanities CLEP. I saw someone mention the relative ease of A&I Literature, made an appointment, and took the test last week cold with no prep whatsoever. I walked out with a 73 and I can't imagine getting a better result with the Humanities test. Humanities CLEP Exam - dewisant - 04-11-2012 The CLEP General in Humanities was the easiest test I ever took. The paper/pencil version was 90 minutes long but broken up into 2, 45 minute halves. I finished each half in less that 20 minutes and scored over 600. I also really enjoyed taking the test and wish very much that there were more humanities tests to choose from. Humanities CLEP Exam - blister8 - 05-13-2012 I thought I would go ahead and share my experience since I read these threads so much when I was about to take my Humanities Clep. I passed this Friday with a 61 after studying for literally only 2 days. (I spent about 8-12 hours each day) I used ONLY InstantCert flashcards, which are really good for this exam. I also found an excel spreadsheet in another thread that was very very helpful, so I would look at at least what was highlighted in yellow too. Coming into the exam I did not feel very confident, and guessed on a good amount of questions....But if you study the IC cards and that spreadsheet a decent amount I think a 50 is not as difficult as you would think. Good luck! p.s. I wont be able to reply to this because I'm ending my membership now. Humanities CLEP Exam - dewisant - 05-13-2012 blister8 Wrote:P.S.
