Biology Clep - Content of exam - carlosamador2006 - 04-23-2007 For those of you that have taken the Biology Clep what would you say were the key components to have down - such as cell division (Mitosis and Meiosis), plant structures, etc. I would appreciate any and all insight on this matter as I am taking my test wed. I feel ready and am doing good with the practice exams - just wondering what everyone thought were key ideas to the exam. As well when I take my exam I will list what is fresh on my head from taking the test to share with the rest of the group. Biology Clep - Content of exam - ShotoJuku - 04-23-2007 Have you checked the established threads? I know this has been reviewed before..... Biology Clep - Content of exam - carlosamador2006 - 04-23-2007 I have seen information regarding the content for the Natural Sciences exam but I think its a lower level of Biology. And it did have some great links which have really helped me alot. Just didn't want to assume the information for NS exam would have same level of biology as BIO exam. Biology Clep - Content of exam - Matymus - 04-24-2007 Well...being one who's taken BOTH the Natural Sciences and Biology exam, scored a 48 on both of them...I'd say the Biology is much tougher overall than the Natural Sciences. That being said, the Biology CLEP actually covers quite a bit more regarding plant structure & such than originally anticipated. Make sure you know plant & FLOWER makeup quite well. There were quite a few questions about that. Make sure you have a good understanding of Mendelian genetics as well. I'm sure I'll be more ready for the NS exam when I can take it again in August. Science was never quite my forte. Biology Clep - Content of exam - mattie - 04-24-2007 I Just took Biology last week, and passed. I've also taken Nat Sciences, and passed that too, though it was quite a while ago. Suprisingly, the Peterson's practice tests were RIght on for the Biology clep. They were veryyy verry similar to the real thing. I would definitely recommend using those. There was quite a bit about cell division, but If you have Mitosis, and meiosis down pretty well. you should do fine. Good luck Biology Clep - Content of exam - journey - 04-24-2007 I took Biology and Natural Science over the last couple of weeks and I cannot tell you which was the more difficult. I scored 42 on Biology and 46 on Natural Science. I agree with the previous post. The Peterson's was right on. You would want to invest in that. I would say to make sure you know about inheritance and how it relates to diseases such as Down Sydrome and sickle cell. Be sure you understand dihybred crosses and sex-linked choromosome stuff. You will see a question asking you to pair a chromosone code (i.e. A-G-C-C-T-A on the DNA would be T-C-G-G-A-T). If you are versed in the punnet square these are a couple more questions you could get correct in anticipation of the questions regarding chemistry. I also remember having to understand how to reconize a balanced equation. Chemistry was definitely not my strong suit. Be sure you know how the food chain works (i.e. producers, primary consumers, secondary, etc.), in other words, which organisms eat which as you progress up. I sure hope this helps. Actually one should study and pass BIO FIRST before taking on the NS exam. Biology Clep - Content of exam - carlosamador2006 - 04-27-2007 So I just got back from testing at UH. I passed my biology exam with a 52 - kind of close but its all good. I used the REA and IC but I think the best thing that helped me was this link CLEP: Biology I took notes and reviewed them and took the practice tests. As well note that the exam is 115 questions. The main thing is definitely understanding and remembering the content since there are so many questions in the form of all of the following EXCEPT - and if you look at all the answers there are generally a few that are a given to be incorrect. I studied about 2 weeks and was just biologied out - I am definitely taking the NS exam as a follow up. Just wanted to thank everyone on here and all the information - it really helped and I just tested out of enough credits to finish my AA Biology Clep - Content of exam - Drummerboy - 06-19-2007 Was there any in-depth chemistry like valence electrons and the periodic table on the Biology clep? Is the Bio section of IC prep for both Biology and Chemistry cleps?
