U.S. News info on Big 3 - IrishJohn - 01-10-2012 For anyone who is curious, here are the links to U.S. News' info and ranking on 2 of the Big 3: EU ranks higher than TESC by students. Interestingly, both have high male enrollments - EU even higher than TESC! 69% at EU major in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies , while only 18% at TESC do. Both schools are at 6% in Business/Commerce, General majors. Charter Oak State College is not in the rankings nor did a search on the website turn up any information. U.S. News info on Big 3 - bricabrac - 01-10-2012 Well given TESC was actually founded in 1972, not 1998, I wonder what other info they recorded incorrectly. ![]() Middle States (msche) Accreditation 1977 Excelsior was founded in 1971, not 2002; also accredited by the Middle States Commission in 1977. Looks like someone dropped the ball when it came to fact checking.:roflol: U.S. News info on Big 3 - Lindagerr - 01-10-2012 Yes I was going to point out the same thing as Bricabrac. Also they stated the tuition cost only of the comprehensive tuition which gives a false idea of what it can cost. If they got these things wrong what else is wrong. I have lived in NJ all of my life and have seen and heard advertising for TESC since the 70's. The college website and brochure clearly state the college moved to Trenton in 1979. Obviously US news did not do their homework. U.S. News info on Big 3 - Ace_King - 01-10-2012 Not only that. But I thought Excelsior had around 30,000 currently enrolled? When I check it states Total Enrollment of TESC 16,289 and Total Enrollment of Excelsior 16,629? I notice that they are categorizing these fact under the Online College section. Look at this link, Excelsior College | Best College | US News I clicked just "Colleges". And this one it has the correct info for Excelsior. I'm assuming the online section of U.S News is only stating when the online programs we're introduced to the big three? U.S. News info on Big 3 - dcan - 01-10-2012 It's misleading. The tab is for online programs, and the text says offered courses online since 1998 or 2002 respectively. I think they should clarify "founded" means when they started offering online courses. But that doesn't take into account the correspondence and assessment approaches they had since the 70s. It definitely calls into question the rest of their info. U.S. News info on Big 3 - burbuja0512 - 01-11-2012 LOL... too funny that US News didn't do a great job. Of course they didn't do a good job if they forgot COSC! hilarious In all seriousness, COSC is so small (Last I read it was around 2k enrollment) that I can see why they didn't rate. Lack of information on US News for COSC may actually be a good thing. Since I didn't go to an ivy league or popular state school, it's not horrible that people haven't heard of it. U.S. News info on Big 3 - IrishJohn - 01-11-2012 Just passing along the link I came across. I myself was quite satisfied with TESC. ![]() U.S. News info on Big 3 - bricabrac - 01-12-2012 Thanks for the clarification; that's what I get for doing too many things at one time. I didn't even notice the other tabs on the page. :o U.S. News info on Big 3 - ryoder - 01-12-2012 Bunch of haters ![]() U.S. News info on Big 3 - Storyteller - 01-12-2012 In my play book, TESC is tops!!! |
