Unsure InstantCert Fully Prepared Me for CLEP Humanities Exam - mstcrow5429 - 04-12-2007 I took the humanities CLEP exam this afternoon. It covered alot that was on the InstantCert flash cards, and a lot that wasn't (I'm not including anything I know was covered by InstantCert, but that I forgot enough of to utilize). Offhand, I only remember something on Medea, grouping of various people by their occupation (composer, author, painter of style X, etc). I'm not entirely sure if I hadn't already possessed a fairly decent background in humanities, I would have been able to pass the test (I got a 67) based solely on the InstantCert material. What are people's thoughts on this? Unsure InstantCert Fully Prepared Me for CLEP Humanities Exam - mapalo - 04-12-2007 Just want to understand are you complaning about IC or what? Because solely IC and you get 67, that's a big reason to rejoice for the pass and money and time saved. Unless I am missing something here?? Unsure InstantCert Fully Prepared Me for CLEP Humanities Exam - LuBee - 04-12-2007 67 is a very good score. Are you aware that the CLEPs are based on 80 being the best score that you can get and that 50 is passing? I think that if you get a 67 based only on IC study then IC prepared you quite sufficiently, since the goal is not to get a perfect score but to pass. Unsure InstantCert Fully Prepared Me for CLEP Humanities Exam - Casey1300 - 04-13-2007 I take this test in a week. How long did you prepare for it? I have no background in humanities and some of these poems and such are foreign to me. I really would like to pass. Do you have any recommendations if you feel that we need a little more than IC? IC does cover a great deal, more than any singular source but will have its limits too. A 67 using IC alone is terrific. Unsure InstantCert Fully Prepared Me for CLEP Humanities Exam - mstcrow5429 - 04-13-2007 I'm saying that IC helped, but I already knew a great deal about humanities to begin with. My concern is that if I had no knowledge of humanities, and solely relied on IC, I'm unsure if I would have scored as highly, or passed. Do you have any recommendations if you feel that we need a little more than IC?I'm not sure. As others have said, humanities is a very broad topic. I guess a familiarity with Greek tragedies would help, ability to pick out meanings and context in poems written in more archaic English, out of 4 or 5 choices, pick which author/composer etc. is not matched with their work, and vice-versa. There isn't any one source I can think of that would cover everything in the exam. Pick about the interweb on general subjects you might be weaker on. Maybe do a Google search for CLEP Humanities exam. I wish I could be more helpful, but Humanities is a very broad general knowledge exam, which makes specific recommendations difficult. Yes, IC coupled with previous knowledge may do the trick....OR if need - see my list below. I used them all even on topics that I had a great deal of previous knowledge in. Why risk failure?? It's like going to work as a Policeman without your vest on; I would rather sweat than bleed. IC is a great tool, optional sources can remove most of not all of the risks. Unsure InstantCert Fully Prepared Me for CLEP Humanities Exam - barcotta - 04-13-2007 mstcrow5429 Wrote:Pick about the interweb...Is this a tribute to the movie, "For Your Consideration?" They had a couple of very funny scenes about the "World Wide Interweb!" Unsure InstantCert Fully Prepared Me for CLEP Humanities Exam - shanharbi71 - 04-19-2008 I got the same score as you did today (67) and I agree with you that a lot of the stuff on the test I didn't know and I started to get a bit panicky. I think my guesswork was the only thing that saved me on quite a few questions. Sure, I did recognize some of the stuff from what I learned at Instacert and I think it's a great study tool, yet there was a LOT on it that I didn't see anywhere, including a different study guide I used. It's a difficult test but I think as long as one studies a lot with the Instacert and maybe another good guide, you can at least pass it. I hope my general math CLEP is easier!! |
