Tesc b & m? - Sam - 11-27-2011 Hi degreeforum members! I found this forum very helpful when getting my TE BA in psych. I have a strange question someone here may be able to answer. Does TESC have a B & M campus? There is someone on a popular nursing website that says she drives by the TE B & M campus in Trenton daily. She also says that her HR manager claims to have graduated from TE but did all her courses it 'on campus not online'. This is strange to me because when I got my BA from TE grad student who is active on their student site told me TE exists online only. He said there are no courses taught in actual classrooms. I know there are some admin buildings in Trenton but I do wonder if any courses are actually taught in classrooms. Thanks for any replies. Tesc b & m? - LaterBloomer - 11-27-2011 Don't know what there is these days, but I recall a woman back in the mid-70s who was going to a college called Thomas Edison. Can't think that there would bemore than one. Maybe it's evolved/evolving into a virtual campus. Tesc b & m? - bricabrac - 11-27-2011 I remember once going to the school for testing and noticed one of the rooms filled with what looked to be a class. I assumed it was a graduate class but do not know for sure. Maybe they have seminars at the school, there is plenty of room so it makes sense. But having a complete program taught at the school, I'm not sure but you could just call admissions to find out. Maybe the HR woman wants to dfferentiate her experience from other OL schools? TESC is not completely online it has other course methods. I've read old posts where it seems GS used to be through the mail only and you talked to mentors over phone. Now GS assignments are drop boxed (although I've read some still mail math assignments) but you can still schedule phone appts with mentors. Latebloomer: That's very interesting. Maybe there was a B&M set up in the past. Tesc b & m? - Sam - 11-27-2011 Many many thanks for the quick replies! I will call admissions because I'm thinking of doing their RN-BSN program. Right I imagine the HR lady wanted the extra status many give to people who graduate from traditional B & M schools. Because it says 'State College' in the name some believe there are many traditional classes held on a TE campus in NJ. I imagine the name of the school is a selling point. I'd just like to know if it exists online only. Thanks again! Tesc b & m? - sanantone - 11-28-2011 TESC has some on-campus nursing courses, but I can't find the link. It has established new and exciting partnerships under Dean O'Brien's leadership. Tesc b & m? - cookderosa - 11-28-2011 It's possible to graduate from TESC with any degree and not take online courses. While TESC is an online state college, you don't have to complete courses with them, so you can take your courses locally if you'd like. You can transfer them back in and use them toward your degree. Thank you bricabrac! That was very nice of you. It's funny how you can read something and not see the answer when it's right there. Yes to me one of the huge advantages of TE is the option to test out completely, take courses locally or do the whole thing online. When I did the psych BA at TE I took a 6 cr hr class online before realizing I could just do various tests to get the whole degree. Testing out saved a lot of money. Chatting with and emailing folks on this forum was helpful in learning about doable test out options. Thank you degreeforum. Even though it took longer I'm glad I took the one online course with TE because if I ever wanted to I could honestly say I graduated from college with a 4.0. Plus imo I think some people (including myself) learn more taking online courses than studying and testing out. Thanks again everyone! Tesc b & m? - Ace_King - 11-29-2011 I wouldn't call TESC an online college. However you can call it whatever you'd like heh. TESC, EC and COSC and are not really "online colleges" as much as they are assessment colleges. They were all offering degrees in their present format well before there were "online classes". That Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN program gives me enough evidence to tell people , yes TESC has on-campus classes and a B&M. |
