Credit banking with one of the "Big Three" - Old Rusty Pipe - 04-06-2007

I have a problem I was hoping I could get some thoughts on. Recently ACE finally got around to evaluate one of the training schools I've been to in the Navy. They ended up awarding 15 upper level electronic credits for it. This evaluation happened 11/06. I went through the school in 8/05. After contacting ACE, they informed me that I was ineligible for the credit because I attended before the actual evaluation period. They also mentioned that it is ultimately up to the individual college to assess my training, and that they are free to use the recommended credit even though ACE won't put it on my SMART transcript. I'm looking to salvage some of these credits, with 15 upper levels I can't help but feel compelled to try.

The best I can come up with is try to credit bank at a RA college that will work with me, since its really a technicality denying me these credits I feel I have honestly earned. I figure that Excelsior, Thomas Edison, or Charter Oak will probably be my best shot at this.

For those who attend any of these schools, which would you say is the most understanding for a situation like this? I'm not looking to enroll, but merely to get these on a transcript I can use later on.

If anyone could think of another school that may help, I'd love to hear about it.

Any ideas?

I can't provide you with any personal experience regarding this specific issue, but I know that Excelsior can be accommodating in circumstances like these. I agree with your approach 100%. For 15 upper-levels, you HAVE to try. One--it's a lot of credit, and two, YOU DID THE WORK! Good luck. Let us know what happens.

Both schools are very understanding in handling unique situations. I'm trying to bank an old computer course with TESC and there's a good chance that I'll get credit for it. It's a distance learning course that I took a number of years ago. Keeping my fingers crossed.

TESC offers a military discount at $250 for an unlimited number of credits.
Here is the link to the credit bank application:

The fee with EC is $260, plus $25 for updates. The application doesn't give a breakdown on how much per credit like TESC, so it's probably safe to assume the fee covers an unlimited number of credits here too.

I gave Excelsior a call and explained the situation. They said that the default answer is no I can't get the credit because its not endorsed by ACE. They said I could file an appeal and have it all examined. I'm going to give Thomas Edison a call a Monday and see what they have to say about it.

Also, how good is Charter Oak with credit banking?
