Foreign University Accreditation - Drummerboy - 11-06-2011 Hello all, Wow, it has been a while since I have been on this forum! I have been doing some research about graduate degree programs and thought I would turn a question to you trusty degree seekers. I finished up my B.A. last year and am now teaching elementary ESL. I have also been looking at UNAM in Mexico City for their Linguistics program, thinking a degree from a Spanish-speaking country would be beneficial for the type of work I do. Does anyone know how I can determine if a foreign university might be accredited in the U.S.? Thanks! Foreign University Accreditation - perriquit - 11-11-2011 In Mexico there are 3 regionally accredited universities accredited by SACS 1. Tecnologico the Monterrey, the largest and most prestigious Mexican university. 2. Universidad de las Americas, Puebla 3. Universidad de Monterrey. In Mexico there are 2 levels of degree-grating school authorization. A state level and a federal level. There are tons of crappy schools that only have state level approval and you want to avoid those. Unam is a public and very chaotic university...I suggest you stay away from it if you want to avoid headaches. |
