How do you spell relief? â G-R-A-D-U-A-T-E⦠- Storyteller - 11-05-2011 Hi, all! I just got my official letters from TESC yesterday. WowWee! Thanks to Elinor, (whose degree plan I worked from - BA in History – and who discovered the AAS in Environmental, Safety & Security Technologies degree), I’m scheduled to graduate with two degrees December 2011. I can hardly believe it. I went from 14 b&m credits to 120 credits in less than one year. I took my first Clep November 24, 2010 and my only TESC course final exam October 6, 2011. I started off with an IC subscription. After three months of studying just the flashcards, I bumped into this forum. At that point my world expanded exponentially. The help and encouragement I’ve received along the way can hardly be put into words, but I’ll try. Here’s a shouting “THANK YOU” to anyone who has ever posted a helpful suggestion, academic advice, test feedback or a positive word of encouragement. And another shouting “THANK YOU” to those who personally answered my questions, helped with my degree plan or generally were there when I needed help. It was not my intention to graduate in less than one year. I planned to gradually do Cleps until I was forced into the classroom. However, that changed when I discovered DSSTs, Aleks, and the godsend of all godsends - FEMAs. Before I discovered this forum, I knew nothing of the Big 3 colleges. I had never heard of testing-out of a degree. All I knew was Clep testing for credit (limited to 30 credits at most schools) and Prior Learning credits. Based on what I knew about the traditional route to a bachelor’s degree, I was sure a BA was out of my price range and light years away in my future (if ever). What caught my eye was Burbuja’s tagline: “24 b&m credits to 96 credits in 7 mos.” (It was back in December, I think). Her simple statement gave me the hope and the determination to complete my degree in a more aggressive manner. Which is exactly what I did! To anyone contemplating starting or finishing a college degree – DO IT! Now is the time to move ahead with your dreams. Dream BIG! You’ve found your way to this forum – you’re not here by accident, so stop THINKING about getting a degree, and start GETTING one. And be sure to follow the Tasman’s advice: “Use the forum’s SEARCH function,” because the answer you seek may already be there waiting for you! Best wishes and may God bless each and every one of you… Jan c. p.s. I’ve included my degree plan for BA History which also fulfills the AAS Environmental, Safety & Security Technologies.
