Statistics question ??????? - Erikadawn - 10-25-2011 I have been reading the posts on Statistics, For a person who has no math savy and need to learn stats. What is the suggested way to go ? Dantes, Straighterline or Aleks. I have attempted so many Cleps, DSST, and ECE, but I am so scared of stats. Any comments are appreciated. I only have 9 credits and my capstone to complete a BSLA at Excelsior. Statistics question ??????? - LaterBloomer - 10-25-2011 Cookderosa recommended khanacademy.com to me. I tried a couple of them. I only have 9 credits and my capstone to complete a BSLA at Excelsior. I'd suggest watching all the khan videos first, that's free, and in my case was enough to pass the DSST. I also watched many of the learner dot org videos "against all odds" (also free). I am also not math savy, and only went as high as beg. algebra. I started with ALEKS but dropped out in the mid-50ish percent range and did the videos instead. Statistics question ??????? - ryoder - 10-25-2011 I did aleks and it took me quite some time, however I did learn stats in the process. I didn't know about khanacademy at the time but I read some stats for dummies or something like that and it helped me to get through the aleks course. If you do take ALEKs, make sure you print the answers to the problems while taking the course. I printed mine to pdf files and used them as a resource during the open book exam phase. The worst case with ALEKs is that you spend a lot of time learning stats and "drop out" and lose your 20 bucks. Then you can consider the DSST or straighterline option. |
