BA Natural Sciences/Mathematics Degree Plan - MMM - 10-09-2011
I've been doing a lot of research (this forum is a goldmine!) and thinking. I've put together my degree plan for a BA in Natural Sciences/Mathematics.
Would someone mind taking a look at it and letting me know if they see anything glaringly wrong with it?

MMM, your plan looks very good except ALEKS business stats will duplicate intro to stats. For additional cheap credit take the intermediate algebra course. It will fill NS/M or GenEd so you can drop something else. Maybe take a look at Excelsior ECE exam or Penn Foster for the additional UL NS credit?
Also a biological aspects of aging, not sure if this is considered NS? Seems more human services or nursing. Lindagerr would know more. I'm sure she will stop by soon.
Correction: looks like biologic aspects of aging does fall under the NS/M category or so it would seem from one of my older lists.

Bric is right about the statistics. Why not take the business statistics as your upper level move your Math clep to lower level math and take something else for your general ed elective. I am tired so I might have missed something else. Have you checked in to straighterline science classes?

I'd confirm that the Network Technology TECEP actually falls under Nat Sci/Math Area of Study- not sure that is. I don't think ALEKS Business Stats will be UL under this Area of Study even if it is the only stats course you take, but, again, confirm that. I think you may run into a problem with ALEKS Precal in the LL part of the Area of Study, especially because it is a 100 level course and you already have CLEP Biology penciled in there. Use DSST Environment & Humanity instead and maybe stick the Precal in the Gen Ed portion.
Look at Ohio University Credit-by-Exam for more math and biology credits, including some UL ones.

On this page of the TESC website, the Network Technology TECEP is listed under Nat. Science/Math.
I didn't think ALEKS Business Stats would work either, at first. But then I saw this thread. Is it "right"?
Also, I believe I am allowed up to two 100 level courses in the Area of Study (I updated the docx file to show the course numbers). But maybe I'm overlooking something... [attachment=407] If the ALEKS Pre-Cal still wouldn't work, do you think the CLEP Pre-Cal would?

I was planning on taking Business Statistics as upper level, but now I'm not sure if I can.

I'm in the middle of something so was unable to view the revised plan.
If you were enrolled in the BSBA program first, both statistics courses would have been added to your evaluation. You would have then been able to reuse both courses. But in your case, a BA program, you will only be able to use one stats course. And I agree with it's best you take either intro or behavioral. Business may automatically be moved elsewhere (GenEd) because its coded as a management course (OPM).
The biology CLEP is 6cr at 100 level (BIO-111/112), that's why the precalculus course (MAT-129) should be moved elsewhere.

Network Technology TECEP is a Natural Science course. It's been used quite a few times by students for the NS UL requirement so no worries there.
Now, try to follow my train of thought; I have a suggestion on a work around in using business statistics and it will not cost you anything. Why not also enroll in the AS Business Management program? You can enroll in an associates and bachelors program at the same time. This way when the aleks/ace transcript comes in they will process both stats courses and it will apply to both degree programs. When you see the overlap of the credits you are using for your bachelors you may just decide to complete both. If not, just submit graduation application for the bachelors when requirements are complete, leaving the ASBM open for later (you could also then decide to switch to the BSBA). Anyway, just a suggestion.

BTW, I am in the 6CR TESC environmental science course and it is not hard but there is a lot of work to do. There are 6 assignments and an online midterm and then a big paper at the end. And you have a couple of discussion postings to do but those take about 20 minutes max per assignment/section.
