Greetings all. It has been awhile since I made a posting. I was wanting to get some opinions on the D.B.A. with a specialization in Management of Engineering and Technology from Northcentral University. The tuition is the best that I can find using military tuition assistance. It actually works out to being cheaper than the program for my M.S. in Leadership and Business Ethics. My goals are to earn a regionally accredited doctoral degree that can be earned entirely online without any residency requirements. I am looking for something that involves technology management. It chimes with my overall Naval career goals of eventually being an Electronics Maintenance Officer.

Hi! I don't have an opinion on this specific DBA, but I can tell you that my younger bro, a COSC grad (who introduced me to IC) is now working on his PhD with NCU. He specifically wanted PhD behind his name so chose that rather than a DBA. From what I understand, NCU is the best choice for an online doctorate. I think that Ryoder is also looking to them for the future so he may have something to add.

Rusty - I am working on the MBA in Applied Computer Science at NCU and I can answer any specific questions you may have regarding the coursework. Randell at the other site completed a PhD in management at NCU and can answer dissertation and research methods questions.
I really like the format of the courses. You can start this monday if you are ready. Call them today and enroll online while speaking with an enrollment counselor.
Pay for it with a credit card and you will have immediate course access by monday and will be able to work on the syllabus immediately.
They are an open enrollment university so you just have to send in your masters and undergrad transcripts by 90 days after your first course starts I think.
You can finish the coursework at your own pace but have at most 8 weeks to complete a course.
The courses are extremely research focused. You are asked to read a few chapters in the textbook, and then write a research paper on a certain topic each week. In an HRM class, for example, a topic could be the role of HR generalists versus specialists. You will need to take a stand on which is preferred, why and in what context. You are given access to many scholarly research sources including ProQuest. You basically formulate your essay, support it with scholarly journal references and upload it for a grade. Your mentor will grade it and make recommendations.
Two things about NCU. One is that they are not ABET accredited for engineering and the other is that their biz school accreditation is ACBSP not AACSB.
I don't think those are such a problem though unless you want to teach engineering at an AACSB school.
