So first of all before I start my rant about being nervous, I want to mention that my DS passed his Law Enforcement DSST today, which made my entire day and is a great early birthday present for him. He'll be 16 on Sunday and now has 6 college credits. So proud
After coming back from the testing center and being SUPER proud of DS, I decided to log on to see if I was finally able to log into my first MBA class. It officially starts on Monday, but it was supposed to be unlocked to view as of today.
As you can see from my link, my MBA is fully bilingual and while I'm fully fluent in Spanish, the thought of graduate-level Spanish is intimidating. I was really hoping that my first class would be in English. I was SO happy a few weeks ago when I bought my text and saw that it was in English. I breathed a sigh of relief.. after all, wouldn't it be nice to get the hang of MBA assignments in my native language before moving on to something more difficult?
Well.. I just logged in to see the syllabus and it's ALL in Spanish.. assignments, expectations, forum posts, etc... So this makes it much more difficult. I have to read an English book and then translate my thoughts into Spanish for each assignment
I don't know how other people are, but when I speak in English, I think in English. When I speak Spanish, my thoughts are also in Spanish. Translating is much, much more difficult for me. :eek: I know I can do this, but it will be a heck of a lot more challenging than I had thought.

Congrats to your ds. As far as your MBA if you write in Spanish half as well as you do in English you'll do very well.

It's understandable that you're nervous; it looks like you've taken on a lot. The thing is, you can do it and you'll do better with your MBA because of it. You'll be fully bilingual. If you learned it all in Spanish, you'd know the Spanish terms for theories, etc. If you learned it all in English, you'd know the English terms for theories, etc. Now, you'll know both because you've HAD to go back and forth between the two languages. Yes, it will be harder. You didn't go after this MBA program because it was easy, however. It won't be, but it WILL be worth it.

Sorry, I just can't worry about Bubbles school work.....cause I know, KNOW, that you will adapt and overcome! 16 months or so from now you will probably be talking about some online PhD from Madrid or somewhere.
Burbuja worried about school! HAHA thats a knee slapper.
I will also add that it being all in spanish sounds almost as bad as it being all in algebra...I couldn't do it

I know I can do it... wow but I have got to say that so far, it looks like the most challenging academic endeavor that I've ever undertaken. I do like a challenge though so I guess I am getting what I asked for!

There is no doubt in my mind that you will ace this class. It will be a challenge at first, but before you know it, you will be thinking, reading and writing in both languages at once.
You went from 24 to 121 credits in 9 months, so I know you can do this.
I've got faith in you - you can overcome this temporary glitch!!

I agree with everything that has been said so far. You have given us lots of reasons to be confident in your abilities!
When I get nervous about the next level of learning, my mom has always told me, "You're gonna get so smart!" That will be a true statement in your case, too.
(By the way, thank you so much for posting this. It makes my calculus course seem easier! I guess it is all about perspective.)

I posted my introduction last night on the class forum. It took me like 2 hours because I kept re-reading and doubting my wording. I know it will get better and once I stop the worry, it will go much faster.
LOL... back in May, on a business trip to Mexico City, I thought I was just attending a conference and found out once I was there that I was actually presenting! I was able to whip up a presentation and give it in Spanish to over 300 people.. .and it didn't turn out bad at all! I kept reminding myself of this last night working on the stuff for my class. "If I can make a last minute presentation to a large audience in Spanish turn out well, I can do ANYTHING!"
Well... at least that's what I keep telling myself. I know I will believe it once I have a few good papers under my belt.
