What are these capstone classes like? I took the COSC Business Capstone, Strategic Management 499. Mine was a traditional online class with forum posts and group work in addition to the regular assignments. I talked to people at the COSC graduation that had other types of Capstones. The Individualized Studies majors had a totally different type of class. There was no group work and lots of writing. I didn't ask if they had forum posts. My Capstone had a very interesting text and I enjoyed the coursework. I felt like studying for some of the tougher biz tests like Money & Banking or Principles of Finance was much harder than the Capstone was. I struggled with learning the APA citation probably more than I did with any of the subject matter. Overall, DO NOT be afraid of the Capstone. If you can make it through the CLEP/DSST/ECE?etc.. tests, you will be more than prepared to ace it. I can't stress it enough: CLEP testing and a self-imposed study schedule really can be a TON more difficult than having a real class with a teacher and assignments. I'm so glad I did the Capstone for many reasons, but one of those is that it gave me much more respect for what I had really accomplished in testing. I was like "WOW this class isn't super easy, but having 8 weeks to learn a topic and a syllabus to follow is SO much more simple than forcing yourself to learn difficult topics on your own!" COSC Capstone - rebel100 - 08-26-2011 Capstone for BSLS is not difficult, but there is a good bit of writing. There were only 2 people in my class. We just had to pick a subject in 1st 5 weeks, you develope that project and in the final 10 weeks you write the monster. Mine ran to 24 pages. the other students ran to 26 pages. A you go along you submit drafts and we had to give feedback on each others work. Tat was as close as we ever got to any sort of group project. I found the cornerstone to be excellent prep for my capstone. I you can finish that the capstone is not difficult. Just stay on top of your deadlines and it's pretty easy. |
