FEMA Courses? - MP_Steve - 08-19-2011

Well, yesterday I took my first FEMA course. It took me quite some time, not that it's hard, just time consuming clicking between windows and trying to find answers, but it was a waste. Here's what happened:

I go to submit my answer sheet and it kicks me back to the start screen. I scroll to the bottom and it tells me the multiple choice answer sheet EXPIRED in 2010. I see no other alternative to this answer sheet. Several if not most of the courses are like this.

Seeing that many of you have taken the FEMA courses to satisfy elective credits, what gives?

Hi MP_Steve

I sent you a PM on my fema process.

Maybe the course you were taking is in the process of being updated? Which course was it?

It's hit and miss, but it is several that I know of. I've been going into the tests to make sure they're the "new" ones (ie: the ones with the question and multiple choice answers on the same page, not seperate like the "old" ones).

The new ones are working for me, but I haven't seen any information about an altenative test or any plan on updating them. Perhaps I've missed something.

Thanks!

FYI, some of the new or updated exams are on multiple pages. It was about five or six questions on each page. example IS-208a

I'm aware. I got to the end of the old test, filled in all the pertinent information like full name, SSN, address, all of that, and it kicked me out when I went to submit it.

Ok. I'm new to this. I attend APUS. I'm looking to convert 11 FEMA courses (which I'm working on now) to elective credits for my BA degree program.

I've read several different ways to do this. TESC, Frederick, etc. What are the pros and cons of each? I've contacted my student services to ask if they accept them directly but I won't get a reply until Tuesday.

Any help appreciated.

Oh, I'm sorry I misunderstood. Maybe the server was down.

I believe to convert through Frederick would be cheaper but still about $60 per credit. Are you sure your school will take them from anyone?

That's strange. It's been a couple months since I took a FEMA, but the ones I took had an online "scantron"-type answer sheet, no questions. I had to read the questions from the test paper (PDF, DOC, whatever) and write the answers on a sheet of paper, then transcribe those answers into the online form.

Sounds like things have changed?

(Note I'm not talking about filling out a paper answer sheet, just having to write down the answers so I could fill in the online answer sheet)

Yes I did it the same as dcan. It also made it better in case I had a computer glitch. I kept the answers on a paper copy.
