Human Growth and Development in 3 weeks? - Makahu - 08-17-2011

I am planning on taking the Human Growth and Development CLEP in early January. However, as I have a very tight schedule this school semester, I looks like I will probably only have time to study for the test during my Christmas break. So here's my question: If I study an average of 5-8 hours a day for 3 weeks, will I be adequately prepared? Is this allowing enough time?

The only other experience I've had with CLEP is the French test, but I didn't study for that one, as I already speak the language. From what I hear, Human Growth and Development is one of the more difficult ones...?

I've already had Psychology, and am currently taking an Anthropology class, so I don't know if those will carry over at all.

Does this sound realistic to those of you who have taken the test?

I just took and passed this test today. If you're an InstantCert subscriber, I used the flashcards for this test as my only source of study. I worked through them for three 6 hour sessions, the last of which was spent studying for two other tests at the same time. There's no way to say for certain you'd get the same results, but there you have it.

Psych will help you if its fresh in your mind, a lot of the same names pop up - Freud, Erikson, Piaget, and all their stages-of-development models.

Ranking the tests by difficulty is really subjective, I thought the hardest test I took was French; the voice actors spoke a lot faster than the ones in the Spanish CLEP, and every question in the reading portion had an option that would "sound right" to someone that also speaks Spanish, but on occasion I could recognize for sure as incorrect. After that the one I guessed the most on was Western Civilization II, but that was also my second highest CLEP score .

I heard that Human Growth and Development is the hardest out of all of the psychology tests, CLEP or DSST. I opted to take the Lifespan Developmental Psychology DSST since I thought it might be easier. There isn't an InstantCert flashcard set for Lifespan Psychology, so I used the one for the HG&D CLEP. Since I've taken a lot of psychology courses and tests, I only went through the cards once right before taking the DSST. That was a mistake, not the going through the flashcards once, but depending on the HG&D flashcards for a different test. The DSST was nothing like the CLEP. I passed with a 62 (46 needed), but I wouldn't recommend that most people did what I did. I was lucky to have guessed so well. With all of that said, I really think you only need a few days to prepare for the test. But then again, my memory is partially photographic and my study habits may not work for everyone.

I am planning to do the Human Growth and Development exam and the Introduction to Educational Psychology Exam next and I see where people have said the flash cards are helpful. Based on time constraints, I would like to know if I pay for the flash cards, are they able to be downloaded or do I have to wait for them to be mailed to me. Thanks for the replies

Is there any information on Introduction to Educational Psychology? Was it done by anyone, who can share the main areas to focus on

You would be better to make use of the 'search' function to find what you are looking for.
IC...you pay $20/month and you practice with them through the website.

Send the webmaster an email. I had the same problem. They responded promptly and fixed the problem. They will just reset your pass word and you should be good to go after that.
