GPA question .... - jackbanta - 07-25-2011

Ok, so I'm a bit nuts, but I've been doing some thinking about my degree plan. Basically, I'm trying to get my Bachelor's of Business as fast as possible. To do so, I had planned to take the CLEPs, American Lit, Analyzing and Interpreting Lit, and Natural Sciences to fulfill my elective requirements. Doing some calculations though, I see that my Max GPA would be 3.33, due to some Cs on my transcripts from my early, unready college experience. If I substituted all three tests for graded DSSTs, my Max GPA could be 3.6. If I took the A&I CLEP and four DSSTs, my GPA could be 3.54. I am partial to this plan as my GPA would be above 3.5 and I could take the CLEP I would least have to study for.

I'm just curious as to the pros and cons. Would a 3.33 kill me? I think I might pursue an MBA down the road, but its not a given yet. Is a 3.6 vastly better than a 3.54? The difference in money is of little consequence in my thinking right now, I'll spend it I I think its worth it. Also, ultimately I don't think the difference in study time would be greater than a month maximum for me in either plan and I am willing to do that too if I think its worth it.

Any thoughts, as usual, would be greatly appreciated.
