New DSST Re-Test Policy! - burbuja0512 - 07-13-2011 Hi all - I just got the following email from DSST: Instead of waiting six whole months to retake an exam on which you didn't do well, you can now try again after only 90 days (about three months). And here's more good news - even though this policy is new, we're applying it retroactively! So if you weren't happy with your February or March exam score, you can take it again NOW instead of waiting another few months! WOW this is great news - has anyone else gotten this? New DSST Re-Test Policy! - alleycat - 07-13-2011 Excellent!!! Wonderful news for people that just barely missed passing a test and want to retake the exam. New DSST Re-Test Policy! - methibosheth - 07-13-2011 That is AWESOME!!! I'll feel much more comfortable about taking a shot at Money & Banking now that the risk of having to wait 6 months has been cut in half! New DSST Re-Test Policy! - bkahuna - 07-13-2011 This rocks! Finally coming up to speed!! New DSST Re-Test Policy! - cookderosa - 07-13-2011 burbuja0512 Wrote:Hi all - I just got the following email from DSST: Rockin!! That means that if you take it (and fail) you can still squeeze in one more retake before the close of a graduation cycle depending on when you took it. That's pretty great! New DSST Re-Test Policy! - burbuja0512 - 07-13-2011 I'm very excited from a home-schooling perspective because if my DS misses a test by just a few points, then taking the next three months to do review and learn a little more is great timing. 6 months is a long time to keep learning the same topic, especially if it's an elective. Great point Burb. 3 months is alot easier for a young person to handle. 6 months seems like years when you are young. I love the 3 month rule. Do you know how long you have to wait for TECEP tests if you don't pass? I love the 3 month rule. Do you know how long you have to wait for TECEP tests if you don't pass? No clue on the TECEP, but I do have an update to add. I just forwarded my copy of the DSST email to CLEP at clep@collegeboard.org I told them that there was no need to respond, but I wanted to let them know what DSST was doing and I gave them my brief opinion on why I was so pleased with the 90 day change. No clue if I'll get anything back from them or not. My guess is that if they're planning on changing, they'll let me know. If they're not, they probably won't say anything. I will definitely post any response that I get. The more I think about it, the more I think that the time difference between 3 and 6 months is enough to make more money for the testing organization. What I mean is that if I know that I have to wait 6 months to re-take the exam, FORGET IT. I will just take the class.. kind of like when I failed macro. I didn't even consider waiting, I just signed up for SL right away. Had it been a 3 month wait, I might have just studied more and waited. So, CLEP ended up missing out on the 80 bucks or so that I would have spent on a re-test. New DSST Re-Test Policy! - humenber - 07-13-2011 I got this email this morning, too! I also looked at my college transcript and my last DSST showed up today. It was less than two weeks ago that I took my test. Pretty fast compared to the past! Prometric must be looking at ways of improving themselves. New DSST Re-Test Policy! - Tasman - 07-13-2011 That's excellent news |
