Newbie Question - timhoover2112 - 06-28-2011 Hi all, I'm a newbie and am curious if anyone has some advice on what to do when your school doesn't want to cooperate with you about what DSST's or CLEPS are acceptable or not. It's not anywhere to be found on their website and I even asked the advisor if the school has a link with this information and all I got from her was " No, we don't." Not a "No, we don't, but, how can I help you?" Seriously, I can't get a straight answer from her and keep getting the run around. Really frustrated. Please help. Thanks in advance :-) Timothy Newbie Question - cookderosa - 06-28-2011 timhoover2112 Wrote:Hi all, The credit accepted by your school is 100% up to your school, you can't make them accept CLEP. Sorry ![]() But, just for kicks, you should find your school's CLEP and AP policy- it will be in writing somewhere. Newbie Question - timhoover2112 - 06-28-2011 Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I never said my school would not accept CLEPS or DSST's exams for credit. I said they wont give me a straight answer about which exams would satisfy certain classes. Example: Computer Literacy. My school will accept the Intro to computing DSST exam. Although, that took them two weeks to give me that answer. Second: I said, "I asked my advisor if there was a link that I could find information regarding my schools credit by exam policy?" The response I got from the academic advisor was "No, we don't." Newbie Question - ShotoJuku - 06-28-2011 What school are you currently attending? Newbie Question - timhoover2112 - 06-28-2011 Hi, It's Ashford (online). I actually found a link that shows what cleps Ashford accepts (sort of). Ashford University Online â CLEP Info But when I asked the Academic advisor, she said "We accept Information Systems and Computer Applications exam, however it does not satisfy our Computer Competency requirement." So who knows. lol. Newbie Question - Lindagerr - 06-28-2011 Is there a Paper or online catalog? That is where TESC spells out what they take and for what equivalencies. PS you need a new academic adviser
Newbie Question - smokey2011 - 06-28-2011 Strange, I asked my advisor the same question ( I also go to Ashford) and he sent me a list of what CLEP's would cover my core classes. It took a few days, but I did get the answer. So it sounds like your advisor is just lazy or misinformed. Newbie Question - timhoover2112 - 06-28-2011 Wow, Really(smokey2011)? Any time I contact Ashford, they make me feel like I am intruding. Once, when the academic advisor emailed back, at the bottom of the email, it showed where she had listed the importance of MY email as LOW:.. How nice , yeah? I don't think she is inept, she proudly lists that she has an MBA. smokey2011, Would you be so kind as to forward that list your advisor gave to you, to me? Maybe it's possible that some of the your classes are the same as mine. Thanks in advance. Timothy Newbie Question - cookderosa - 06-28-2011 Here, it's on their website: Ashford University Online – CLEP Info They accept all CLEP exams with a score of 50 or higher. I think what you want is an equivalency table, in other words it would say CLEP US History I = HIS101 or similar, is that correct? Again, sounds like your advisor is not so much. My take on the matter is simple, it's my money being spent so they better try to help me or I will take it somewhere else. I think my advisor gets that vibe from me as well, even though I have not directly said it, I'm just very straightforward with my requests and will continue to ask questions until I am satisfied with the answer. |
