ACE question - jmichelle79 - 06-28-2011

Hello Everyone,

I have a question that I can not find the answer to. How long does ACE hold credits?
I read that for Penn Foster it is 3 years. Is the hold time 3 years for every ACE credit?

Sorry if this has been answered before, if it has I couldn't find it.

Thanks

This is a great question; I'd like to know the answer, too.

Where did you see 3 years for Penn Foster? (That is not very long.)

At ACE and through Google, I see the word "lifelong" a lot. Is that only true of some courses or is that the point of the ACE transcript?

CLEP keeps your test scores for 20 years, but I don't know if that means ACE keeps scores for 20 years or not.

From the ACE website

ACE CREDIT® provides a lifelong registry and transcript service
for ACE college credit recommendations and continuing education units (CEU). Please see the links above if you're seeking military transcripts or GED Test information.

It was hard to find, but that sounds to me like it is there as long as you live.

Good Question I had never thought of it before.

I found the '3 years for Penn Foster' on another forum. I also did a google search and found other people speaking of this. I wonder if this means 3 years is how long Penn Foster is good for, then needs a review??? Not sure.

If I find anymore information I will post.

Thanks

ACE's credit recommendations last for 3 years. After the 3 years, the credit source can either have another review or allow the recommendation to lapse.

Penn Foster keeps transcript records for 50 years. Quoting page 24 from their May 2011 College Catalog:

"Permanent records of student transcripts are maintained for 50 years after graduation.(Students must be current in their payments to receive this service.) On the Web, you can use the “Contact Us — Student Services”
feature to submit your request. Be sure to include the name and address of the employer or school you want the transcript sent to. You can also make your fee payment online by going to “Make Other Payments.”
