BSBA TESC degree plan with all DSST CLEP? - CMOS - 06-20-2011

Is it possible to complete a TESC BSBA with only DSST and CLEP? If not what is the minimum number of TECEP/ECE required to complete a BSBA in general management?

I see on the list of tests at Undergraduate Ways to Earn Credit - Thomas Edison State College - acalog ACMSâ„¢ that 6 of the business DSST exams are UL.
BUS-311-DE Business Ethics and Society (3)
CIS-301-DE Management Information Systems (3)
FIN-301-DE Principles of Finance (3)
FIN-332-DE Money and Banking (3)
MAN-311-DE Organizational Behavior (3)
MAN-331-DE Human Resource Management (3)

However, Business Ethics and Society is needed to fill G: Bus in soc/Int'l Mgt and Principles of Finance obviously fulfills D: Princ of Finance.

Any work around to this?

You can't do it with exams only because there is no exam for Managerial Accounting. You also need to take some TECEPs in order to test out completely with the BSBA in General Management (at least three, I think).

I guess I should have provided more details. I am comparing my path to completion between both COSC and TESC and I have Plans mapped out for both. I will need to take 9 more at either school and I am wanting to limit the number of TECEP or ECE since they have a higher cost and the testing center closest to me is not set up to offer them.

For TESC the requirements that I still need to complete are
G: Bus in Soc/Int'l Mgt (3sh)
---Business Ethics in Society DSST planed
H: Business Policy (3sh)
---Business Policy TECEP planned
General Management Specialization (18sh) (6sh complete)
---MIS DSST complete
---Organizational Behavior DSST complete
---Money & Banking DSST planned
---Human Resource Management DSST planed
---Marketing Communications TECEP planned
---Advertising TECEP planned
B: GMS Elective Area (9sh)
---Business Law II planned
---Principles of Supervision DSST planned
--- Intro to Business DSST planned

I also have to consider the fact that TESC is around $1k more expensive against the inconvenience of having to take 2 classes at COSC but that is a discussion for another post.

TECEP have come down in cost just recently. I think there is a thread on the forum about that change. Also you have Pre Cal, Stats, acounting 1 and 2 and all the intro business classes. You probably already know that. Have you looked at TECEP Sale Management exam? I heard it is not to hard. It is also upper level.

BSBA TESC degree plan with all DSST CLEP? - Lindagerr - 07-02-2011

Enrolled Options Plan: 2011-2012

TECEP® Examinations Per Credit Attempted
New Jersey residents $33.00
Out-of-state residents $33.00
Non-enrolled students*** $33.00

This should make TECEP's a more popular exam, I just wish they had a least one History.

I just paid around $500 for my last TECEP. I feel like I want to throw up.

You can certainly get very close to completing all the requirements by exam:

Principles of Finance (DSST)
Business Law (CLEP)
Business in Society (DSST Business Ethics and Society)
Busness Policy- (TECEP Business Policy)
Computer Concepts (CLEP Information Systems and Computer Applications)
Introduction to Marketing (CLEP Principles of Marketing)
Principles of Financial Accounting (CLEP or Straighterline)
Principles of Management (CLEP)
Principles of Managerial Accounting (Straighterline)

Management Area:

Management Information Systems (DANTES examination)
Organizational Behavior (TESC examination OR DANTES examination)
Cost Accounting (Straighterline)
Human Resources Management (TESC course OR DANTES examination)
Industrial Psychology (TESC examination)
Introduction to Operations Management (TESC course OR examination)

CLEP: $308- Not including proctoring fees (Business Law, Info Sys, Marketing, Management)

DSST: $400- Not including proctoring fees (Business Ethics, Management Info Sys, Principles of Finance, Organizational behavior, Human Resource management)

TECEP:$198- (Industrial Psychology, Operations Management)-

Straighterline ($177 or $239 for the same exams)- Three accounting classes

Total: $906 - Not including Proctoring fees or textbooks/Study Prep Materials

I'd recommend taking Managerial Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Cost Accounting from Straighterline. It will cost you less, since the price will be ($99 a month/ $39 (2) if you use promo code, then you get one class free.) If you complete the classes in one month, then it will cost a total of $177. If you do the exams, then it will cost $239-not including the proctoring fees.
